Owners and miles?

2003 facelift SMG Coupe. 128,000 miles. I reckon it will be on 135k by the end of the year.
I may have said this before but you are welcome to read my blog on the value matter. My experience altered my perspective on values and I did not buy the first car I saw either or even the third!

Great to see these cars racking up high mileages. If I ever get one of these again I'd be tempted to replace the big end shells and head gasket at 120k or so. Of the high mileage cars here, have any of them ever needed anything big, i.e. over £1000 on a single issue outside of routine servicing?

I had the Vanos rebuilt at 110k which cost me £1200 and BMW did the subframe carrier panel repair for me at 130k but that was free, beyond that nothing out of the ordinary yet. That said mine is going into the bodyshop on Monday for a front end overhaul due to stone chips and the first appearance of a bubble on the o/s wing. It's getting a new o/s wing, n/s wing removed and blasted to remove any rust brewing, both wings waxoyled, rear arches cleaned / waxoyled, wings, bumper & bonnet sprayed, mirror bases tidied up and a chip on the A pillar dealt with which is costing £2200. It doesn't really need all that but I think it deserves it.
I'm also having the clutch replaced while it's in as it's the original clutch and while it's not slipping the release bearing is juddering a bit and the bite seems to be a lot more vague than it used to be. Estimate for that is around £500 with a further £400 if the DMF needs replacing.

Honestly? Yes.I've had the front of my car repainted. That was not cheap! In hindsight I could have just done the wings but since the front was not at its best (or at its worst for that matter) I decided to go the whole hog ; it looks pretty much new from the front! I am also getting the rear end reinforced next week, another pleasant bill...
The latter bit is not necessary but I figure that some protection and prevention is better than curing a problem when it becomes too much.
Here is a list of what I have spent on it:

Had my F10 M5 for 32 months & covered just over 39k miles (trouble free & hugely enjoyable).
Sold last week for Auction money (£32500) as this was on CH with BMW & they offered an Auction price to any purchaser. Had i known they'd offer it that cheap i'd have bought it myself, but had already committed to my next car.
