I'm currently running PS2's, need N rated for warranty, 235 35 19 and 305 30 19.

I've been told that PS2's are now discontinued and a replacement is on the way. I can only hope it's PS4S but this isn't confirmed.

Has anyone else heard anything on this?

I looked into this last summer and was told my Jamie McWhir, Michelin UK technical director, that they had no plans to discontinue the PS2. My experience was they took several weeks to arrive once I ordered them though, as they are low volume I think they are often on back order. I'd suggest dropping Jamie an email to confirm the latest situation, his email is:

Thanks G-996 - I sent him an email today and received an almost immediate and very detailed reply.

Out of curiosity what's the latest update from Jamie?

I asked specifically about 235/40/18 and 265/40/18 sizes as can only get PS4 fronts and Super Sport rears - apparently by Jan 2018 the PS4 will also be available as 265/40/18 (but not N fitment).

So is the ps4 an actual replacement to the ps2s? I need some new fronts on mine but then the rears would still be ps2s.

nope the PS4 is like a hot hatch tyre which replaced the PS3 which replaced the Pilot EXALTO 2

The PS4s is the replacement for the Supersport which was the replacement for the PS2, PS2 must be 20 years old !
Why people fit a PS2 is crazy.

The reason I fit ps2s is due to the lack of tyres in a 295/30/18 size. Supersport was never available in this size.

People explain that to Demon every time he posts the question (which is whenever PS2s get mentioned), but he hasn't worked out yet that not everyone owns a fleet of modern, mid-engined, pork.

Thanks Jim1556 - apologies for the confusion. I meant I didn't really want another set of PS2 but I can't get Super Sport or PS4 (or PS4S) in the 2 sizes I need so that would entail mixing PS4 fronts with Super Sport rears. According to Jamie if I can wait until Jan 2018 I should be able to get a complete set of PS4 in the sizes I require, albeit not N fitment. The PS2 has been around for ages now and also the N spec versions seem to be getting more and more expensive compared with the generic version in the same size.

Do they have to be N spec for warranty purposes? If not, there's a much bigger selection. And if it's a weekend/track car, you can always try Cup 2s... driving

No warranty to worry about but unfortunately Cups aren't available in the sizes I require either.

Up or down a width or profile shouldn't cause an issue apart from your speedo might be a couple of % out.

I've just received Cup 2s in 235/40 & 265/35 18s for my M3 - not quite the same profile but bloody close...

According to Tirerack's website both the Pirelli Trofeo R (both sizes are manufactured in Turkey) and the MPSS are available in 235/40 18 and 265/40 18 sizes (the 235 MPSS are US made so you may have to box clever getting hold of them at a sensible price)
