I HAVE to take the Run Flats off my new Beemer - they are truly shockingly appalling. So this was not an expected cost after pushing the boat out for a new car. Notwithstanding the fact that BMW need a spanking for selling any car that rides so terribly when the potholes get rutted, and that it has NO spare wheel well...can anyone help with a discount code; pretty please? BlackCircles seen to be the best fitted price for Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's at £150 for 245 40 19's but every little helps!!! Thanks

Not expected? Even the most cursory of quizzing of BMW owners would reveal that runflats are regarded as a colossal and unforgiveable crime, and that immediate replacement is the best option.

That was certainly true when I bought my last one 10 years ago - but research indicated RFT's had 'moved on' and were far better. I TOTALLY disagree ! That's probably why our 2 series came with proper Michelin PSS... What sense? Why don't the mags/reviewers tell it like it bloody is - especially on 19"?

Actually they are the best price this time mate by about £40 fitted for 4 and have a mobile fitter so I wont have to lug the old tyres and can also clean behind my wheels as they come off on my drive! smile

Hmm I'm in the same position but insurance company wasn't very happy when I asked about changing to non runflats. Have you talked to your insurance company yet?

Where do you guys get "supply only" tyres fitted? Do you know people, or have you found a local fitter willing to do the job?

Of the local tyre places I've spoken to, they either refuse to fit tyres they haven't supplied, or quote such an astronomical price for doing so that it wipes out any saving on the tyre itself. Which kind of makes sense when you think about it.

My local independent charges me £12 to fit a tyre (fit/valve/balance). That is for me rocking up with the tyre to fit. Mostly he takes £10 cash. If he supplies and fits he says he makes about £15 profit per tyre after fitting. He doesn't have to order, hold stock, get involved in invoicing etc. He's happy to get paid, I'm happy to get the exact brand and load tyre that I want.

Likewise, a local motor factor does mine for roughly £15 a corner.

Jeez! Last place on earth I would have looked! I can get 3.7% Cashback too... Now their breakdown is:

Description
4 x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 at £134.50
Tyre Size 245/40Y19 £538.00
4 x Wheel Balancing at £6.75 £27.00
4 x Standard Valve (Cap & Core if TPMS fitted) at £4.75 £19.00
4 x Environmental Tyre Disposal at £1.50 £6.00
Total £590.00

Now I don't need new valves as car is new and I want to keep the old (but new) concrete tyres!

Wonder if its worth a ring or is this a lot of their margin?

Cheers

But that is the whole of BMW's business model... I just really cant get my head around it. The whole car makes me tense up when I see rutted or bad surfaces looming. Would soon be a trip to the doctor for stress if I don't buy something a bit more compliant wink

i but from black circles, for me always the best value, maybe not cheapest but 1 hour slots art ATS works fine.
Black circles prices fluctuate by the day so for example for me cit Pirelli P7 Cinturato are 64 pounds but a few weeks back where about 60 pounds.
if i bought them tyreleader and got them fitted it would save me maybe a tenner, but i would rather just turn up and get them fitted. if i keep an eye on the price i will get them at the cheapest.

BC is owned by Michelin so you are more likely to get better deals on there own tyres, combined with tesco points can save a bit.

I went with Kwik Fit for £542 in the end inc TopCashback £22/05 and having to email them after the job to get the not needed tyre disposal and new valves refunded. Thanks for your help on this upsetting expense guys :-)

HOW much better is the car?! Its still firm but quite acceptable now and copes with less than perfect surfaces far far better. Much more planted rather than skitting around too.

Kwik Fit? Well... Guy who booked me in told the guys that did the job NOTHING we discussed so I ended up being charged for new valve cores and 4 tyre disposals - which I naturally declined to pay (£19 for 4 valve cores - as 'they are better than std as they are nickel plated sir' - rolleyes). Then had to take it back and spend another hour there and get the whole 4 wheels balanced again (with me hovering to make sure) since the whole car shook at 80 after the first time... Hmmmm!

Hmm...

Why would someone shop at black circles when they could buy from either of those sites you quoted, which look like they are a good 25% more expensive....confusedlaugh

I guess it's all time and tyre dependent.

2x Michelin Pilot Sport 4s 245 35 19

AA = £444
Black Circles = £418
Tyreleader = £367

Ordered, I'll post up if it all goes horribly wrong.
