Had a good day. First thing this morning I went down to the Wedge and replaced the fuel pump and cleaned out the pre-pump filter. I then stripped an old distributor and swopped the magnetic pickup thingymebob as the one in mine was rusty then reset the timing using the oldest and dullist timing light ever. I had to paint the timing marks white and close the garage doors to see the marks because the light was a crappy redish neon. Next job was to set the fuel pressure and then off for a short blast and the wee beasty runs, idles and drives perfectly. Next on the list was my CLK which decided it wasn't going to start. Easy fix though. The starter had a loose connection.

I was on a roll by this time so I decided to replace the tilt motor on my outboard motor and fit a new voltage regulator so now the engine can tilt and trim and the battery now charges. Just finished with the boat and the wife came back from work so playtime was over but I'm happy with my days efforts even if she isn't.

Thought i'd just pop out into the garage and remove the old 'after pump' filter ready for fitting the new one on Thursday when i'm off work....................

What a cooking funt of a job that turned out to be! Clearly not renewed for a while as the clamp nut/bolt and the bolts that attach the clamp to the mounting plate were all totally fooked.

Ended up having to cut them off.

Still at least it's clearly another job that was more than due and i can take a little peace of mind once it's all back together later this week.

my sunday morning drive got well and truly rained off, what a shocker.....yes it does rain here!
so instead i decided it was oil change time....all went reasonably well but why do people do up sump plugs so tight? I had to get a `t` bar on it and turn it with a jack to get it to breaksmash, the ally washer was fagpaper thin!!!!!still all done now but as with any time you stick your head under a wedge the list of jobs gets longer...........but thats half the FUNthumbup

Well, the gearchange finally got so bad that I couldn't get 2nd from 3rd...

I know it's not the weekend (in fairness I ordered the parts last Thursday), but I've just replaced all the gearbox remote linkage bushes with poly, and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Gearchange is now slicker than a marble band... biggrin

That reminds me of a couple of weeks ago, wedge in a similar position, me lying underneath doing the clutch, pretty much out of sight. Then two local chavs wander past...

Chav 1: Is that a Lotus?
Chav 2: Nah, that's one of those TVR's [innit?]

Me - smiles - there is hope after all....

General faffing this week trying to relocate the air filter in front of the radiator and also trying to sort excessive gear lever movement.

Also attempted to fit new top strut mounts n the daily driver yesterday but that turned out to be a pig. Will need to re think.

Anyway wedge comes first this week in prep for bbwf
