Well its been a productive day getting the garage cleaned out and power washed the floor ready for the walls to get a fresh coat of paint tomorrow...
And I had a friend over last light polishing the car properly for me and this is what he started with, i look the pic lateish losing the light...
I took the spoiler off to get to boot lid done and it needed it badly
And the finished result is...

OK it's not the weekend but my consignment of FRAM oil filters arrived so I went for a quick oil change. 45 minutes later and 12! pints of oil and it's got fresh juice in it.
Actually finished off the 20l carton of Castrol Classic 20W/50 so I'll be ordering a new one soon.
Have stuck the usual paper label onto the filter to remind me when the next one should be.

No this time I changed the filter and also wondered how much oil was in the oil cooler so I put a pipe on the centre hole of the remote filter thingy and blew down it. I think maybe a pint came out.
The normal amount with no filter change at 3k miles is around 9-10 pints. Using my nice green "Castrol" pouring jug ;^)

Fitting a new fuel filter, a new pre pump fuel filter, clean up swirl and accumulator.
New thermostat to fit. Have already taken the housing off and cleaned it up so its nice and shiny, going to take all other coolant/water assoc parts off and clean and polish them as well.
Any tips?

After a hard day's driving in the SEAC yesterday..on the way home, the throttle started to stick. If I lifted under the accelerator pedal with my foot, it returned to normal. I think a squirt of lube should do the trick.
Need to investigate the gearbox, again towards the end of the day consisting of hard fwapping for a video.. the gearbox felt peculiar. Gears changed fine..as normal. But if I pulled the stick back whilst in gear, it felt like it was jumping around. Odd, needs investigating.

Hi mate...Do you have the 2 x throttle return springs on the linkage??....I can honestly say that cleaning and painting a tube chassis, whilst lying underneath it, has to be one of the most tedious jobs I've ever done, on a car or otherwise.
Still, almost finished:
There's only the box-section errr... section at the rear of the chassis to do; ironically of course that's the scruffiest bit and some of it will be a pain to get at but a good day of flying rust and paint should see it done.
Then I can finally (after more than two years) start bolting bits back into it
Roll on next summer...

That's how I like mine - a thin film of oil everywhere...
Today I fettled the exhaust olives a bit to remove the agricultural sound but the offside manifold needs a new flange at some point as the old one has rotted away a bit - know anyone who sells "flange" by mail order - let me know....
Just a quick half hour then this weekend.
