Plenty of unburnt hydro carbons in my garage.. loom is jury rigged for now .. with cables running thru the windows.

It now ticks over and revs.

Sadly I was at work when it all happened but looking forward to more progress.
Bloody hell mate...The cables must be long then...laugh

Maybe it's online and Alan can start it from work.... ;^)

Last weekend identified an oily smell as the offside rocker cover was not tight so nipped up the little screws, and also cleaned the flame trap out - now smells OK, nice easy half hour spent.

Where do you get them reconned, and how much? I have one (spare) with a leaky seal, the price of new ones these days it much be cheaper to send them off.

Has the shorter belt done the trick ?
Well, it's on, and it goes round and round, and the tensioner pulley is now at a respectable height.

Only probalem is you can't get a Gates Powergrip belt in that size, so it's a matter of how long the Optibelt will last - I'll post again in 20,000 miles time ;^)
Now this is strange - the new belt is on, and I've left it maybe slightly slacker than before, you get the occasional slapping sound at idle but nothing untoward when you get moving. But the strange thing is that the oil consumption of the blower has suddenly fixed itself - I was getting though a reservoir per fuel tanks full, and now it hasn't moved since the belt went on.

Hi Adam...Maybe the belt was previously too tight and was causing a higher temperature on the bearings ?..I did read that if the belt is too tight then it can wear bearings quicker.....Sounds like its a tad too loose now though....???

www.ep-services.co.uk £75 + Shipping + VAT with 2 year warranty, 2-3 day turnaround, contact Paul King

Quite a bit cheaper than the TVR taxed suppliers, best price I could find was £115 again + Shipping + VAT
Plus I know my pump fits... with a spacer....

Apparently there is on v8 pump that doesn't coma apart so Paul will probably ask for a photo !

Cheers, my one has had the casing welded and strengthened because of the superchager mounting so it's doubly important to have it reconned.

@Zig yeah possibly, the bearings are under less stress, although how that affects the oil seals next to them is anyone's guess...

Bit of work on my car yesterday afternoon / evening.

Drove thge car out of the garage under its own power.. on a very basic map, running way too rich but it beats pushing it and it only ran for 30 seconds and I dont want bore wash.

Trace the fuel pump feed back to the fuse and added an additional 60 amp earth to the pump. Just making sure we have maximum voltage before starting mapping in a week or two.

Slightly improved fix for the alternator belt not lining up with the water pump pulley landed on my desk !

- I'd forgotten I'd bodged it with 6 M6 washers between the pulley and the pump flange.....

Just needs the 'oles drilling

Bit more work done on the wiring tonight.

Took off steering wheel and un-soldered/ re-soldered all the wires on the ignition barrel - as some were not in great shape due to previous alarm installs.

Fed the engine bay loom through the bulkhead .. not an easy task due to the amount of wires and the stuff in the way behind the bulkhead.

Tomorrow - going to jury rig a few wires to make sure it all still works after the stress of passing thru the bulkhead then connect properly.

Also need an extra earth lead from engine to chassis.. cant have too many good earths.

Frustratingevening in the garage .. got the engine running but fuel map is not responding well.

Its too rich and any fuel taken out make the engine stall.

More investigation needed.

Have you got a stepper motor on there?

Problem is the cold running map is a lot different from a hot one, you can't really start to map correctly until hot, and then add setting for adjustments for temp.
Also Don't try let it idle too low, as you can destroy the camshaft,

I believe that is true but all we are trying to do is take some fuel out as it is just so rich and will kill the plugs and cause bore wash.

It's so unresponsive - it makes me think there is another issue, like the Accel injectors are just duff.

Need to do a few basic checks.

BTW - I hold the revs at about 2K but the cam has already been run for 30 mins at 2.5 K but it is a wild cam so idle is fast anyway for now.

Have you double checked the timing as this could cause it to stall also. also have you checked your lambda readings are correct.

Base timing is on the check list. Was OK so should not have moved.

Did not need a lambda to know how rich it was .. my clothes stink of fuel.

Extra earth wire added from engine to chassis.

I found the Emerald poor response issue - the TPS was incorrectly set. It started at load site 15 and went backwards when you rev'ed it.
