Fitted new dual lip crank pulley seal, made a gasket for the refurbed water pump and refitted that, spent a frustrating half hour fitting a slightly higher temp rad switch (one flat at a time) and got the new wheel spacers fitted on the O/S, looks good but it's now obvious there is too much daylight between tyre and front arch so looks like round 3 on the front springs as I can't drop the car any further without the spring being loose on full droop, looks like a reduction in spring rate needed at this end as well.

Been out to the garage tonight and the Wildcat engine now runs sweetly on 8 cylinders.

Found 3 issues.

TPS inverted. So throttle running in reverse. Easily solved.

Started briefly then would not try .. then remembered the fuel looked a bit well gloopy and dirty when we partly took off a fuel pipe, combined with a TVR fuel guage that reads low.. F*ck its outa fuel.

10 mins and 4 gallons later ins rev'ing its nuts off at 3800~4000 revs. with the throttle fully shut.

So the 3rd issue looks like an air leak but it sounded awesome. Certainly woke the neighbours up.

Some good things, TPS is working correctly, engine responds to ignition adjustments, voltage is showing at 13.8 revs, fuel pressure looks good on guage. We do not stink of unburnt fuel. Oil pressure of 55psi. Air and water temps working correctly at ECU.

All very encouraging.

Video will follow at some point in the near future.

I've done that; hurt a bit to admit it - particularly as I didn't figure it out as quickly.

Si,

Can't you refinish the AFM (polish or powder coat) & fasterners (zinc plate).

Looks a little Aurthur Bodgit in it's present guise.

That is so cheeky!

Alan, don't worry, you'll be running out of fuel pretty soon and probably quite often with that lump in there.

At least the cam will have bedded in nicely at those revs, Rev.

Today I've mostly been fitting a new clutch master cylinder - I also bolted up the new slave cylinder, only to realise that the hydraulic union is a different size to the one I just removed, so the feed pipe wont fit. So much for buying the right parts from a TVR specialist rolleyes

Also got a new O/S front wheel bearing fitted - the old one could best be described as a bit notchy (the outer small bearing that is). New N/S front bearing to be fitted one evening.

There is an adaptor you can buy for the master cylinder if the hole is to big !

Put on a new fanbelt and relegated the old one to the boot as an emergency spare.
Investigating some vibration from the rear - wasn't the prop bolts this time, but a UJ looked a bit dry so gave it a good greasing. Will do the other three soon.

I've got a slight vibration at the rear of mine above 90 so likewise I think I'd better check the UJ's although there was an advisory on rear offside wheel bearing. Think I'd better get it sorted in advance of the spirited M40 run down to Topcats?

It might be a bit of runout on the wheels .. easy to check.

PITA rear wheel bearings!...Also check the N/S hub nut as they are more likely to come loose than the O/S....Front wheel bearings can sometimes feel like its the rear...I once had a severe vibration at the front and it turned out to be a stone trapped between the exhaust and the chassis...smile

I changed the spark plugs today and while I was at it I tought I'd take the plenum hose off and inspect it. This is what I found underneath. What a botch. The end of the plenum was badly taped up and partly blocking the intake, presumably done to seal the pipe.

I removed all the old tape and I tried fitting a silicon one I had in the garage never used before but someone had previously cut one end too short and it wouldn't fit. So I ordered an aluminium extender to add in the centre and make use of the silicon hose. In the meantime I fitted the old rubber hose back and done up the clips well to seal it. I also changed all the spark plugs and fitted BPR6ES. All the plugs were a good colour so the engine seems healthy.

Inside the plenum pipe there was a trace of oil which I thought was unusual but wiped it all clean. Has anyone else had that? I thought maybe the breather needs cleaning so that's next on the list.

I took it out for a test drive and it goes like a rocket. Well pleased with the result.
