Pull back the footwell carpet and check for fluid running down the firewall: happened to mine and it made a mess of the carpet and leather
gents, that was how mine was until Saturday - foam insulation around drivers footwell is soaked in brake fluid. Replacement master seal kit was excellent with all the required bits and pieces. Only took 90 minutes to strip, clean, rebuild, refit and bleed it.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLUTCH-MASTER-CYLINDER-R...

That may come in very useful - cheers!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLUTCH-MASTER-CYLINDER-R...
Well so far this weekend I've replace all my door seals and been over to see a very tall bloke who has helped me out with a powered steering solution for my 350i.
Cheers Glen.
You're car is really going to be something special once finished. But what ever you decide please, please, pleasel don't put all that Super Charging Kit up for sale. My Wife will have a st fit if I turn up with that. Even she is not gullible enough to believe it was a 50 quid eBay bargain.
Cheers Glen.

Still on the fence ref the Supercharger set up, with my tweaks / theme for the wee beastie being very high output, low weight if a 5.0l pops ups (especially if its got a T5) I'd be very tempted to go in that direction
I've some time yet to mull over as got the body to lift now
Nowt going on in the garage as the Wedge is on axle stands waiting for the steering rack to come back from refurb. But I did clean the shed out and was surprised at the amount of Wedge related clutter I've manged to collect in the last 15 months
How many sets of wedge wheels does one man need for one car for Gods sake?

What's being going on in my (dad's) garage...
Well I eventually got hold of a clutch from RPi, rated for over 300 BHP and made up of a AP cover and a Valeo friction plate of unknown spec but it did have massive springs in it... £160 via RPi E-bay shop.
While it was in pieces we also robustified the release arm a little and decided to reuse the original steel carrier release bearing not the plastic toy that arrived with the clutch.
Then after a bit of wiggling, swearing, pushing n shoving the engine is now connected the new gearbox

Meanwhile in the Kitchen we have mainly been - cleaning injectors !
About 18 months ago I bought two sets of filthy jag injectors...
ALDI Ultrasonic cleaner + DIY injector driver circuit (based on the B&G injector tester but using a pic micro for the pulse source) powered by a CCTV 12v PSU (ebay) after a good scrub with a toothbrush I gave each one 5 minutes of the injector being pulsed at 10ms 50% duty with the ultrasonic going using some water based solvent specifically for cleaning engine parts in Ultrasonic baths - the water was dirty after each one so something happened.
After a few hours cleaning and chopping off the top part of the housing so they will now fit the flapper fuel rail. Next job is is check they don't leak under pressure, check the spray pattern and flow rate (look out for another mad DIY test jig..) before fitting new filter baskets and pintel caps. Hopefully two spares in enough to get a reasonably well matched set, one of the 12 was seized and another one I dropped

Good job - I distrust those placcy lego ones too....you old school boys, next you will telling me square wheels wont catch on

I've heard of them crack where the release arm pivots. Sold the plastic one on ebay within two hours of listing and almost got my money back so clearly they can't be that bad but I didn't fancy hauling the engine and box out again.
certainly a job and half to have the engine out, had your concerns but all seemed well (car gone now). Regarding them splitting, maybe after many years the plastic would get brittle ?Gassing Station | Wedges | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
