Thanks for the generous comments chaps, but my installation is small fry compared to Steve Heaths installation......wonder if he did manage to get twin Superchargers on the 'Purple Shed' ?

Just completed stage one of this years upgrades; cooling has been something of an issue since the supercharger went on, so took the plunge and splashed out on an alloy radiator and a set of twin speed Kenlowe fans

The old radiator and Spal fans

Shiney new alloy one with Kenlowes

A spot of electrickery!

New rad and the intercooler all slotted back in:

All seems to work ok, no more temp gauge creep when the engine is sat idling.

Next job is the new Emerald K3 ecu.....bet that's going to be fun!

Looks like you have really gone to town there..

Your first picture looks like my current lash-up..

I've got the std rad - with the std 12 inch and also a very high flow 14 inch curved vane fan..

Was kind of hoping it would all be OK used in conjunction with a 74 degree stat with the improved pump from the serpentine front but at least I have Emerald - which does accurately show the temp.

If you need help with the Emerald I will drop you my number.

Well spotted Leigh, it is a Cosworth rad (damn sight cheaper than a TVR one!), the stat is not being used so it's position is not really important.

The four relays are to control the two speed fans.

Yes I have the TVR ali rad on the 400SE and it was about 3 times the price. been trying to tell people the cosworth one will fit, just need's different brackets, and some 35-38mm hose adaptors.

do you need twin speed if you have 2 fans, I have one that's come on at 90 and the other if it reaches 95.

Similar effect with the two speed fans, lower current draw on the first speed, and the jet boost second speed pulls a full 25amp
The supercharger requires some hp to drive it (28hp at 5700rpm), so at idle the engine has to work a little harder and consequently has to have a higher idle speed at tickover to prevent stalling due to the additional drag, this in turn generates more heat hence the reason for the Taz needing a more efficient cooling set up.
Have also fitted a Mahler 74* thermostat that has a larger throat bore than standard to aid the waterflow.
Lower engine temps equals more horsepower apparently. bounce

Them fans look the mutz nutz. Just what I want. Isn't there someone who does a twin speed controller for the griffs and chims?

Yes - according to Des Hamill (book - how to tune RV8's) max power is produced at 75 degrees..

Another upgrade and wallet bashing session completed!
Take 5 very crusty and slightly wonkey 15" x 8" OZ wheels and a few straight 15"x 7" rims

Deposit them at WRC (wheel repair centre)
Wait a few days for them to work some magic.....collect and deliver to local tyre fitter for a set of Toyo R888's 235-50 on the rear and 215-50 for the fronts and Hey Presto! and very sexy set of boots!

Must say that WRC in Preston Lancs have done an absolutely outstanding job on the wheels and only charged £100 per corner, highly recommended! http://www.wheelrepair.co.uk/

Those rear wheel look like they will foul the arches.. or is that just an optical illusion ?

Good job! Really suit the car. smile

I think you may be needing some flares on the back to keep Mr. Plod happy though. scratchchin

Thanks for the link too.
The OZs have always been rumoured to be scary expensive to refurb, and that price doesn't seem too extortionate. I wonder if new bolts are considered necessary.

Oddly enough, they dont protrude past the bodywork at the top of the arches, and dont appear to be fouling the arch lip, but due to current weather conditions I haven't been able to give them a decent run on the twisty bumpy back lanes yet.
The old girl is still sat on her 20mm lowered springs and Koni shocks at the moment but will be benefiting from a full set of Sheng coilovers in the very near future so any minor clearance issues can be adjusted out hopefully.

Those bolts look like new .. and they have done a great job with the rims.. nice job smile

Those 888's look great - I loved the look of mine when I had them but they were a bit scary in the wet. Torrential rain was not a lot of fun.

Don't think they replaced the bolts Rev, at least not at the price they charged me anyway!
It did take 7 wheels to make 4 good ones so they probably picked the best bolts for the rebuild.
The shiney wheels and 888's will only be used in the summer(i.e the dry week we may have laugh), still have the lattice type alloys with Toyo T1R's for day to day running but may get them powder coated black by the same company (WRC)

Interestingly, the 7" OZ rims have exactly the same dimensions as the 8" ones, once you stripped the polished rim off, worthwhile to remember if you buckle the main part of the wheel....still got 3 spare 7" ones!!!!!!!!
