You will have to make sure the Griff gets treated to a sports exhaust... some of them sound nearly as good as the wedge !!

It is quiet by wedge standards, on the plus side I might be able to convince Ms SEWedge to get in it and it isn’t the work of the devil.

New owner is already aware of the forum but I'll let him reveal his identity if he wants to.

Guys, DP May have a little Pre Wedge Tension we need to convince him that the colour of the car won’t necessarily reflect on the colour of his bank statements.

Now before you all go flaming me, I apologise if this sets the hackles rising. I am a TVR owner (Chimaera for 2 and a half years &20k miles), have to say that the Wedge shape never really did it for me although some days I could be tempted. What is it that endears it to you, apart from being (generally) cheaper than the Griff, SV8 etc. Has it more power, easier to maintain, more "character". Simply what?
Honest question, honest answers please.

Wedge thing I suppose. I like all TVR's but the big Wedges do it for me. SEAC's are the iceing on the cake in my opinion. Bit of a hooligan rather than the softer fluffy curves of today

I love the lines and I love the fact that nothing about it is subtle, it’s brash, loud, a hoot to drive and never fails to turn heads. I love the Griff and have wanted one for a long time but I’ll miss the wedge big time and don’t think I’d ever consider a Chim.
Question of preference that’s all.

Wedge wedge wedge for me..!I Grew up opposite TVR dealers in Fernhust, Sussex during the 80's. In fact the bus stop for school was right in front of the showroom window.
It was my destiny to own one. Love em...!

Thanks guys, so it's just a personal thing about appearance, noise, performance etc, although that could describe any TVR I suppose. Do they have similar performance to a later 4.0 Griff/Chim, comparing engine size to engine size. Are they more of a handfull, have more "sporty" harder suspension, and are they any simpler to maintain. Presume Classic Insurance etc. Nothing sinister here, just thinking aloud, if I ever need to recoup some cash from current car.

I've had/have both. A Chim 4.3 from new (did 30k+ miles)and a 400se. 400se is the current one.
Chim is more comfy, quieter, easier to drive, less intimidating, softer, not quite as quick in a straight line, bit quicker top end though (better aerodynamics)

Wedge is LOUD, skittery, challenging, rare, less comfy, better sounding (IMHO), fire breathing and different.
Neither car is particularly more reliable or unreliable than the other in my experience, (but others may disagree here)
If you need to regroup or recoup top a wedge it's no hardship given the pros involved!

Getting a good wedge these days is tough though.

How can I put it in a way that is not offensive?

Imagine you walk into a pub, on the right is a guy sitting by the bar on a wooden stool with a wonky leg (the stool not the guy), puffing black smoke from a role up, with a pint of something dark in one hand and scratching his arse with the other while farting – that’s the Wedge.

On yer left is a clean-shaven chap sitting on the sofa, nice suit drinking a fruit juice and reading something intellectual – that’s the Chim.

Now you’ve got to pick a fight with one of them and if you loose he gets to roger you bandy. If the guy on your right got hold of you then you wouldn’t be able to walk properly for days, if the guy on the left got hold of you then you’d smell nice..

Like I say personal preferance
