Might be buying a wedge, can someone tell me...
Discussion
Actually a friend of mine is buying one but we have some questions, can any one help...
Car in question is 2.8i Tasmin on an A plate. Does this engine require leaded fuel, has the 2.8 been modified by TVR or could we drop in a standard motor from a Capri that uses unleaded.
In addition what other wheels would fit to smarten up the appearance as the standard wheel have seen better days, plus how much are new hoods?
We are having a second look at the car FRiday night so if anyone can help we would be most grateful.

A reg would be '83/84? From '85 Ford fitted unleaded-happy heads, but unless you know where to look you can't tell. On the LH side of the engine block, towards the front, you will find the engine number. Nearby is the type code: for a 2.8i it's PR. If there's also a D or an E, it's OK on unleaded.
TVR didn't mod. those engines in any way.
The wheels have the same bolt fitment as standard Granada wheels, however I think the offset is (from memory) 40mm instead of the Ford's 36-ish.
A new hood is the thick end of 300 quid; it's the fitting that jacks it up. If you can do it yourself, that'll save you some money. The seals around the roof panel can be a pain to fit correctly though.
Just buy it, have fun, and sort it out as you go along!

Make sure you check the usual stuff such as Chassis (Outriggers) for rust, bush wear, notchy box, etc, etc - usual stuff really.
If the wheels are the solid disc type (14") I've some of these - 2 in good nick and I have some of the 15" crosspoke jobbies if you need some.
e mail if I can help.
