Tuscan Race Wheels ??
Discussion
Im going to get my OZ's refubished over the winter but am getting quote £200 per wheel to get it done properly. Ive seen a couple of 450's with 16" wheels the same style as the 15" 400 wheels. Before i go and spend £800 refurbing my 15"'s does anyone know of any 16"'s for sale? Also has anyone any advise on which firm is better for servicing and paintwork - Peninsula or Tower View?
The 16 inch wheels are pretty scarce and will often come sprayed in a variety of colours (to match the racer it came off), so you might need to get them refurbed anyway. They do appear occassionally.
You will also need to buy new tyres so the costs will mount. You will need to be very careful on the fit.

I've got a set of 16" OZ's for my SEAC but they are originally off a Merc and the offset is different necesitating spacers and thus new/longer wheel nuts which means hubs off. These can occassionally be gotten from Germany but you need to trawl German (.de) web sites!!
£200 per wheel seems really expensive - shop around as I was quoted £60 a few years back to do the cross-spoke jobbies off my 350 - If I can find the number I'll post it here.

I have a set (4x) of 16" ex-tuscan wheels ( the 9" wide ones).
I have been selectivly purchasing them over the last few years. They really are like rocking horse Sh1t!.
Peninsula has a few, not many, most were damaged off ex-racers.
I bought my last pair from Tim Lamont, but that must be over 3 years ago now.
Unfortunatly due to the rarety of the OZ style wheels in general, I donot wish to part with the 15" standard ones, or the 16" ex-tuscan ones.
If you can find some however, it is worth picking them up as long as the price is right.

Take a look at this thread:

I've seen the wheels on Neils 400SE, and they look fantastic.

Richard , as far as I am aware is now using Renowheel . I also know he has a set of 15 " 7.5J's with some damage that he may be prepared to part with for the right price .
BTW , just bought a 420 SEAC ( Full Aramid) and the wheels will eventually go to Tony at Renowheel .

Neil, glad to see you made the right decision. You'll have to let me know the next time KHyde wants to meet up with her old freind John Lewis, as I wouldn't mind a look at the SEAC.
