I searched the forum for "rotor" and found a post by Marshall it seems he had the same problem I am having now.
The # on the "parts list" for a rotor 1-234-332-332 draws a blank on crossover charts, my Bosch guy also drew a blank, although he is a Porsche man he did have details of the 280i and said that's the correct #, and gave me the internal Bosch # which is HKB2332. The # on the old rotor is 1234-332. All sort of similar!

I just got a NAPA part # EP406 dist cap from a crossover (1-235-522-229) but the resistive connecters are a loose fit. Anyone had any luck with replacement parts.

My parts are still useable, so it's not tragic, but would like to renew all the HT bits for reliablility.

One interesting thing, the Porsche guy asked is it a 280i one or a 280i ten. Evidently Bosch refer to the UK as the one and the US model as ten.

Any help appreciated. I shall of course post the outcome of my parts search.

Classic Motor Works was able to supply the parts, around $20 for the cap and $10 for the rotor plus shipping.
Next time I call him first!

My 280i died when ticking over at traffic lights and it turned out to be the rotor arm shorting to earth. The Ford No on the original was 78TF-12200-AA,I have a blue dist cap if that is any relevance! I tracked down a remanufactured "INTERMOTOR" P/No 47710s (as Motorcraft EDR 78) cost £stg 3.00 to £ 5.00. not the quality of Uncle Henry / Heinrich ?? but it works !!
