Hi all,
Now that i know, that a Wedge will fit nicely on my drive along with our everyday cars (thanks Blaine! ) ...i want to ask a couple more bits of info/advice
1)Does any firm make a weather proof cover specifically for wedges? or a 'near-as-damn-it' snug fit will do?
2)If i should purchase a wedge without a Thatcham approved immobilser/alarm...who would you recommend i trust for fitting of one? I want to avoid 'joe ordinary alarm fitter' and would rather someone/firm who knows wedges to carry this work out if needed
(fairly local /within 40-50 miles of Solihull)
many thanks in advance for any useful info,
Father Ted

Leven Technologies and Wedge Automotive both supply a hood cover and a car cover. I have the hood cover, it works.

Had my alarm/imob fitted by an autherised dealer, that is called the maker and asked for the nearest fitter to me that they autherised. Left the car for a day and all sorted. They had never done a Wedge but got on with it without a fuss.

Peninsula did mine - they seem to be wizards at sorting dodgy Wedge wiring. I've got about 60 fuses under my dash!

Definitely recommend the Leven Hood Cover. Used on both of my wedges. Fits well and keeps the interior dry and the hood in tip top condition.

Father Ted,
If you want to see a Tiv cover giz a call and you could combine it with the view of the 350 & SEAC side by side in the workshop (as chatted about recently)- the 350 will be going soon.
The TVRCC recommended insurers (in Sprint) didn't seem too fussed if I had an immobiliser or not and I have removed it from my last couple of Wedges as they were more trouble than they are worth (IMHO of course)

If you do get an imobiliser, get one with MICROWAVE detection. That way you can park with the hood down and the alarm will go off if someone reaches inside.

However, don't fit this if you have a cat (of the feline variety) that likes to jump into the car ... or it will set the alarm off. Come to think of it (and I'm not a cat-lover) that might cure the cat!

Edited to correct 'untrasonic' to 'microwave'.

I was told these have no Thatcham recognition as they is no standard for them?

Mind you that 2-3 years ago when getting my alarm fitted.

(in the style of commandant Lassard from 'Police Academy)...many many thanks for the replies
Tas ,classicline required the fittment of a Thatcham 2 for it to be parked 'ungaraged'...so that is why i am following this particular 'just-in-case' route...will give you a bell v.soon as to popping round to see you
Blaine,i may check out the Tamworth place nearer to the time if i get no joy with a local Wedge specialist.
Streaky...thanks for the info....and ,no i don't have a cat....i hate' em ,sneaky little things that poo in the corner of the bathroom when you 'aint looking
Thanks to everyone who has kindly replied.

I thought it was microwave detectors that should be used on Convertibles

Car Covers...

In the interest of doing things on the cheap and not paying to line the pockets of others, I am planning to make a car cover (the cockpit area) from the Canvas flysheet of a tent I have just thrown out.
I have had a look, and it doesnt seem that difficult to cut and style the cover to be an exact fit, with mounting points over the wind mirrors, and then to fasten with adjustable straps to the wheels at the rear for security.

Having persuaded the Girlfriend to help with the trimming and sewing, I hope to get it sorted over the next few weeks.
Then, a good soaking in Fabseal should give it the waterproof finishing touch.

My miustake. I did mean to type "microwave" and have corrected original to avoid others being mis-directed. Many thanks - Streaky

They appear to be on the list now.

Good news. Might see if they can be added to my existing alarm.

Well now Father,

Specialised car covers have the 400/450 pattern and do a good fit waterproof breathable cover around £200 (dust cover = £20 less and includes TVR logo) - we had a waterproof one for a Jag for years that did the job very well - the leven hood cover is vgood and takes up less room in the boot - ideal for stop overs.

Also recommend Peninsula for fitting alarm.
