I always look at it as happyness. The price of etc. Last big bill was unexpected, I was hoping for the purchase price and running costs but hey ho new engine required, shafted and all that.

Peter, looking at your pic in your profile, other planes use wings. Think you are missing some......nearly there though

Talk of big bills and winter jobs on Andymadmak's thread 'doing the right thing?' made me think about how much we spend on our wedges.

So, how much have you spent since buying your wedge?

Mine adds up to about £22k in 4.5 years, which breaks down as:-

£11000 - purchase
£700 - service / mot
£2000 - top end rebuild + new clutch
£8000 - Restoration
£600 - Tyres

Rich.

Hmmm, Ever considered changing you profile to Poora?

well this year i think im running at about 10k

and say 600 miles!!!!

but that does include 4k to rebuild the front and the suspension after the end of last season and a slight tyre wall moment Ouch...

1.5k on the engine rebuild after the french round

500 quid in bits to cure the misfire ( hopefully find out on Sunday at thruxton)

800 quid in tyres

2k in entry fees & testing

the rest is consumables, fuel ( race car and tow car)
ferry, food and accomodation

G

p.s. Tasmania where did you spend 2k on a cage.... I was looking to replace mine with a lighter custom built one for about 6-700 quid...

Hmmm.... looking at you guys, maybe I haven't done so badly after all. I only have a lowly 280i, which keeps the costs down a bit, but so far:

Purchase £2,700
Renovation (too many bits to mention) £1,900

Total (Ouch) £4,600

Still, the car's now a good'n, and I've got 12 months MOT to proove it! And for £4,600 you'd be lucky to get an old MX5 - I know which one I'd rather have!
