The Beast Is Back at last
Discussion
The 520 has the standard manifolds and is putting out considerably more than 316 bhp. I had long discussions with Mr Eales about getting some custom ones made but he recknoned it would only gain 1 or 2 bhp over the standard ones so I decided to invest the £1000 it would have cost elsewhere on the car...
By my reconning based on various dyno tests i would say that by improving the manifolds you could gain loads more than 1 or 2, but because on the wedge the chassis is so close to the manifolds its impossible to get a perfect exit from the head.
E.G we had the same 325 bhp engine running in a Griff and then in a Wedge, in the wedge it was 25 bhp down, this was on a rolling road so not a definative test but did indicate that there was a restriction.
I believe Jeffs yellow SEAC has a specially widened chassis to eliminate this problem.
Would be nice to see some nice long primary pipes on a Wedge, but a bit of a major project.

I really like what you have done to it, very nice.
Did I perhaps see you flash past on the Park Street roundabout in St Albans, heading towards Hatfield on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the comments. You almost certainly saw me as I would have been on the way back to Welwyn from Tower View on Sat! Did you on see me flash by or could you hear me?

Talking of manifolds Tim, did get to see or hear what the results where for the dyno run of the griff beasty at V8D the other day, just curious haven't managed to find out yet , should go some way to prove the theory for tweeked manifolds and Tivs.

Induction roar is louder than the exhaust from inside the car - that's definately a first for my car!!
.....
LOl funny that, when I had some blow back through the valves, I had a noise test done at Goodwood, the exhaust was 98dBs but the bonnet humop grill was reading 100dBs , he couldn't fail it though

good point, i'll check tommorow.
getting back to the topic, there was a Grey SEAC around about 10 years ago with a Tuscan Racer carb engine also dark grey.

I could hear you first! I was on the opposite side of the roundabout in a normal car not looking where I was going! It was the red wheels that made me think it was your one, I'd keep them as is, makes it stand out from the others ....more!
Very nice car, hopefully see it at a TVR meet when I've finished putting my 350 back together.
