Hi does anyone know if its possible to find complete internals for the moulded door mirrors, manual or electric.

i have 1 pod and you can get new pods from tet but that still leaves finding a mirror to put in them

Iv'e been looking for new electrics for mine for over a year.peninsula told me they have not ben available for 4 years. I was told they were SD1, but SD1 have 3 connections, and mine have 4. Anyone any ideas on what else will fit?

My mirror 'motor' units are French. The dash controls are Ford and the wiring is identical to a SAAB 9000.... any clues in that lot?

I salvaged a couple of motor assemblies out of a Ford siera a while back they were 4 wire and the mechanics look similar to the ones in my 350i. I have not had chance to try them yet though (winter project). I hunted high and low trying to find a glass that fitted my pod, I found a couple that were close but not close enough for my liking. So i bought a sheet of the make your own mirror plastic stuff from Motor World and cut one to suit. It seems to work fine but it is worth while making sure that whatever surface you stick it to is reasonably rigid as the plastic mirror stuff is quite flexible.

I heard somewhere that the mirrors of a new shape 3 series BMW fitted niceley. Not sure where it came from though so dont take it as gospel.

Graham,
I was told by somebody at Woodwork that the mirror internals of the old mirrors fit into the series 2 pod type.
I notice that your 280 is for the track, I seem to remember in a previous post there was somebody who tracked their car and removed the pod type due to the possibility of door damage should the pod mirror meet a straw bale or other object!
So if you have RHS pod for sale.......

mmm i've got some of the older mirrors somewhere, i'll try that..

yeah the car is a racer, and im fed up with either setting the mirrors in the paddock and then someone knocking them as they walk past, or the blinking things moving during the race....

i wouldnt have thought the door damage was any more likley, and anyway it tends to be armco and tyres that i've hit...

cheers

for all the pointers guys...

p.s. the pod i've got is lhs...
