I thought it might be an idea to open a thread to announce Wedge Meetings (or proposed meetings) on a regular basis on here.

Maybe it would be a good idea to outline as follows:-

General Area - (e.g. Mid Suffolk - or York area)
Premises (e.g. Dog and Duck PH - or village car park)
Location (e.g. Little Wedges Village)
Road (e.g. A 1234)
Suggested time (up to you)

For those able to easily drive to Mid or N.E. Essex I may be interested in organising a meet and lunch if you like (evening meal in summer) - if so let me know which dates you prefer and I'll see what I can do.

Whaddya think? Am I being too presumptuous as I'm a bit of a newbie here?

NO, Idon't think it's to presumptious.

Allthought there are a fair few 'official' PH meetings, nothing wrong with having more informal do's as well.

Actually, there are a few round abouts my area who have been threatening to get together for a while...

[quote=19560]You've got three days to get here![/Hi John - couple of things about the meetings - I have been three times and have always left feeling that - with a few exceptions - folks just want to stand around and wave their penis's. There has been no articles in Sprint for months, no organised events as far as I know, and when I asked S.R. about events he looked at me as if I was asking for more porridge and replied - no nothing really organised !
It really is a great shame lots of cars and experience but there seems to be a lot of egos and inner circle stuff. Makes me wish I was in the Lakes or Wales - the groups there seem much more interested in driving their cars and having fun. In reading this it sounds like I am tarring everyone - I am not there were two or three really sound guy's who although offering conflicting advice did so with open hearts and to them I am eternally grateful. At the end of the day its all a bit of a shame but may be there on Tuesday just to see if things have changed.quote]

I should be there on Tuesday, God willing. You have some valid points but I do have some sympathy for the Gamekeeper. Personnally I don't like photo opportunity runs or reports, following Nucnud down the Mulsanne at 45mph was maddening and it felt much better when he became a spec in the rear view mirror. Paul seems to organise most of the events - he handed out an A4 sheet last year. The evening meetings are more for an exchange of information and giving people help as well as a social meeting of course. There is of course the Manchester airport run next Sunday. I have some empathy with the inner circle comment, just ignor them, there never seems to be enough time for me to speak to the people that I want to speak to anyway. I do wonder whether we should have a Pistonheads section of the bar this time.? Hope to see you there or at the Airport run.

Interesting points chaps.

But I went the the Mid Essex meet today at Great Totham and thoroughly enjoyed myself - will get there earlier in future. Got shaken to bits on the country lanes though.

I met some great people, made new friends, and had good chats about cars with people who care about their cars. Didn't detect any overgrown egos or penis waving!

Seems the shaking to bits thing is par for the course for Wedges! But may look at shocks as has been suggested.

Many thanks to Pauline and Ray, Daniel and Phil. Hope I got all names right. Also hope to see you all soon.

I seems my car was known and had been spotted outside the Donkey - if you live this way you'll know what I mean

cheers!

Why move back South when you have been in " Gods country " ? Can only assume it was something sad like work !!

Mrs H moved to England from Henley on Thames 15yrs ago and would never go back !!!!

Hmmm Pauline -

I wuz thinking of a Wedge gathering somewhere in our area, along with other Tivvies who might like to come along such as you and yours, as an occassional thing - not to interfere with your officially arranged meet at Gt. Totham.

Those that come along I could blackmail/coerce/ bludgeon into coming to the official meet each month of course! Not that much persuasion is required!

There seem to be several TVR's in the Clacton area - who's got the met blue Cerbera?

At the moment I'm waiting to hear if there are some other Wedgers who WANT to come out this way (Clacton/Frinton/St.Osyth)or Colchester or Lavenham or Dedham or wherever is convenient.

There's Skyrocketship, Phil from Saffron Walden, Neil from Suffolk, and several others.
Maybe they'll all shout at once!

I might go to the Suffolk gathering next week - are you going - or do you think I'm a traitor?

In any case it would be good to meet up with you and Ray for a good lunch and chat locally at some time.

I checked the blub and there's nothing I can do with it - blub is OK - some duff connection somewhere which I can't reach. It'll be of to Kirby Cross to see Julian when he's finished with the Ferrari.
