Problem with doing 3 week shifts at the moment. Doesn't get as much use as it deserves.
But, its going for another service soon and will be mostly fitting new red leads and another chrome filter so it should do faster
Start OK to get it out of the garage then floods on the restart to scare the locals Took the plugs out and they were soaking in petrol. Don't worry Steve, it must be hibernating with the lack of use and needs a bit of WAKING UP so that the BIG BAD WEDGE remembers its roar

Well - my wheels now look fantastic...

Shine was down with solvo... Alloy polish .. the
wheels are not laquered .. so I've covered this with
car polish 'turtle original' to protect from winter
salt corrusion.

Does anyone know of anything better...?

Headlamp / Wiring - well it's better than it
was but not fixed - but I have isolated the problem
down to 1 connector .. so I suspect a partly broken
wire .. so many be a releif bridge for the current
to take around the connector is in order... job for another day !

Hmmm - pledgy .. sounds like a good idea - it's only
silicon polish after all. I will try it some time and
see if it's better that the Turtle Wax.

Streaky - I did drive it twice .. well I had to spin
dry the wheels after cleaning them ...

Two trips up the local bypass .. excellent fun - roof down !

Well guys,

as mentioned earlier I got the radiator out to see if this was the source of the coolent dripping from the bottom right(passenger) side of the rad.

Took it along to a local rad specialist today and had it pressure tested - no leaks and .

When I first noticed the drip I dried of that side of the rad to see if the leak was coming from either the top hose or the temp sensor. When I checked again there was a drip from the bottom of the rad but nothing on the rad between the the hose/sensor at the top and the bottom of the rad.

So, anyone got any ideas where the coolent could be coming from ?

Almost anywhere! The ability and propensity for water to get anywhere is limited only by its molecule size and surface tension.

If the rad was not absolutely level, it could have run from the other side.

If the rad was warm, the 'trail' behind the drip could have evaporated.

If you put a container underneath, how much is it losing per hour (or day)? Does it lose it steadily throughout a day (replace the container hourly for eight hours or more)? Does it lose it mostly after a run?

Answers will all help towards analysis.

Streaky,

to try and answer you questions:

"If the rad was not absolutely level, it could have run from the other side."

The car was sitting in the garage, so I assume the floor is quite level.

"If the rad was warm, the 'trail' behind the drip could have evaporated."

Thr rad was cold as I noticed the pool under the car as I was preparing to take it out.

"If you put a container underneath, how much is it losing per hour (or day)? Does it lose it steadily throughout a day (replace the container hourly for eight hours or more)? Does it lose it mostly after a run?"

I never thought about checking this and as the rad is out now it is hard to check.

My plan now is to get all new hoses, the current ones are 14 years old, put it back together and see what happens.

Does anyone know of a coolent hose supplier, on-line, where I could get an idea of prices for "standard" hoses to compare with the likes of ACT for silicon hoses ?
