Wedge window jammed -

Was working perfectly - if not went up too far. Then after Suffolk meet driver's door window would only go up so far. Had to manually lift it to try and get it closed for protection from the elements and now won't go up or down.

Any ideas?

Can you hear the motor turning?

If no, then it might just have blown the fuse (each window motor is separately fused ... usually).

If yes, then it might have stripped the gears

The motor and mechanism is usually very reliable (according to the 'bible').

No - can't hear the motor turning. Originally it ground to a halt as if something was jammed in there and acting as a brake on it, and I literally pulled the window up to try to close it.

It's gone in to the workshop to have it seen to along with one or two other bits and bobs that need fettling.

cheers!

Just take the door panel off - the cable has probably
got stuck ... look for something that resembles a bicycle brake cable with a small brass stopper at the end. It's at the back of the door.

Thanks - no doubt the workshop will be doing that. Did think of doing that myself but time constraints - TVR called in etc. etc..

I had a window cable go on the Ferrari - the mechanic made such a song and dance about fixing it - and I got the cable for him. Needless to say I don't use him any more.

cheers!

Just noticed the 'typo' in the Topic ... is "Wredge" a cross between a Wedge and a Wretch? - Streaky

It really is a good car - great fun. But I tend to say "Thank God for that" when I get out of it.

The only thing that is wretched about it is all the banging and crashing about! See thread..........

The meeting was in Bristol and I just (22:00) got in. As I switched off the lights, the NS pod didn't retract fully . Quick inspection showed outer bolt missing (clearly the L0ck7it3 didnt ). Quick check revealed that I didn't have a spare bolt of the right thread & length in any of my storage tins and H4lf0rd5 is closed . SWMBO has gone off to a 'Tangent' meeting in the Jeep, so I am bereft of transport and will miss the meeting .

Hopefully next time (will there be one in December?)

The flimsy dangerous feel, shaking, vibrating, banging and crashing about, smells, non existent ventilation, bits packing up or dropping off every month, specialists that charge the earth and do a shoddy job with the cheapest parts available. Welcome to TVR ownership!
In the end I was pleased to 'get out of it' and back into metal. I suspect you'll soon be going the same way?

...
"Non-existant ventilation"? What Tiv did you drive then? I gets lots of ventilation with the hood down ... it's the ONLY way to drive.

On the rare occasions (so far) that I have HAD to have the hood up, there is plenty of ventilation, mostly up my right sleeve from the door-pull!

Streaky - shame you missed it .. only about 10 TVR present but 2 of them were Wedges... the 450 SEAC twins.

I believe the best way to keep the headlamp bolt in place is to drill the head and use lock wire it to the pod .. not too tight on the lockwire or bolt.

Never heard of the 350 FHC? I used to drive it all year round and when it rained the 'demisters' cleared a 6" porthole just below where you needed to see out. So you see NO HOOD OPTION.
I agree with the draught from the door handle though.
I assume that you agree with all the other comments I made.
