OK - I'm new to owning TVRs. I'm new to Wedges. I know the ride is harsh - I know I know I know! (No I'm not Sybil!)
BUT - my wedge shakes and rattles (doesn't roll) and bangs all over the place. It skips badly round bumpy corners and I just can't get the power down to go round corners quickly, safely. Any mad fool can drive fast, few can drive quickly.
Is the suspension on my Wedge too hard? Have I got problems? Or are the roads around here (N.E. Essex) just sooooo bad!
Someone the other day said I was probably pressing on in such a spirited fashion and so I felt all this skipping and crashing about! Another said his was the same.
So are your cars like this? What do you think?

Still losing the odd tooth filling hey?... It was good to see you again on Sunday, just feel a bit sorry that I couldn't have got to the meet a bit sooner.
I know we've already discussed the issue about handling so perhaps we should compare rides at the next Essex meet? I've got quite used to the handling of my car now, and whilst it can be a really firm and shakey ride on the back roads or even over the joints of the main roads, I have learnt to accept and trust it. My car has adjustable shocks fitted all round, has been slightly lowered and runs on lower profile tyres to whats recommended, so I would expect to loose some of the "softness" of the ride. It also has power steering which probably takes away some of the feel of the road, probably making it feel worse than what it is.
On the normal country roads, its not uncommon for the front of the car to feel likes its being thrown sideways when it hits a bump or a dip. Going around a bend at speed can be quite scary at times because it feels like the car is understeering when it hits an uneven surface. I've never driven any other wedges, so don't really have anything to compare it with. I did mess around with the stiffness of the shocks about a year ago, and found that its far better to have the front really stiff and loose some of the damping than it is to have a really soft front end which made the car roll badly.
I may have another play around over winter to make sure that everything is in shape. I know that the front tie bar bushes have worn badly and need replacing, so perhaps I have some excess wheel movement which isn't helping matters. Also, I found that the type pressures made a big difference on my car too, so could be worth checking yours.
By the way, the book I had on Sunday is called Muscle and Curves and was written by Iain Ayre, but I think its out of print now. Probably get it second hand with a bit of searching.

We're getting new bushes fitted at the front anyway. I have already adjusted the tyre pressures - they were far too hard. I am now running 22 front and 24 rear - is that about right?
Will wait to hear what the engineer says - so far he seems to think it is OK.
I would just like to go around corners quicker coz I can feel there is plenty of latent cornering power. It would be nice to go faster in a straight line too!

22 front & 24 rear is right.
My wedge had done 56k when I got it and the handling wa sloppy.
I renewed every joint, evey bush,new rack, fitted new spings and adjustable dampers and it is completely differnt car around the windy roads.
If you have adjustables, have the front fairly firm. Start off with soft at the rear and harden them up until it starts to get nervous, then back off a bit

Well I do 80 mph down a local country lane - correction; I have done 100 but normally stick to 80ish
- and I am holding on!
A local Cerbera driver (who says his car bumps and crashes all over the place too) reckons he's done the same lane at 130!!!
