Yes please Is Henley too out of the way? The Little Angel has just changed hands, and I understand it does some good food. Alternatively, there are a number of pubs on the A4 between Maidenhead and Reading. Henley, woud make a good backdrop for a photo opportunity. No tunnels though!

The main tunnel or the old taxi tunnels?

Hmmm - Henley.

Haven't been there for years. Will the pub be able to accommodate us?

Depends how many turn up, of course, but they have a typical small bar area and we can probably get them to open up the conservatory to eat if we overflow.

I've just had another idea for a possible meeting place. Sadly it's a bit around the back of beyond, but its worth it.

Haynes ( the manual people) have a motor museum down in a town called Sparkford, nr Yeovil in sommerset, and attached to it is a one mile long test track.
From memory when i last enquired, i think the track costs about £300(ish) to hire for a day. So if 30 people were interested, (£10 per car) I rekon it would be a great joint for a wedge or general TVR meet in the car park, with a bit of Track action for those who want.

The track is easily viewed from the parking area, and although it's short and twisty, it's wide enough to have some fun.

Think about it, nice hot summer top down blast along the A30, park up, look at all the other BBWs, have as many goes around the track as you can queue up for, Then a cool evening run back home with the sun setting in the mirrors.....

You can put me down for that!! As you suggest, it seems like a better bet for the spring / summer though. How about somewhere for the post-Chrizzy period??

I wonder if cut and paste works from one thread to another?! I put this on the Wedge Meetings thread but think it really should be on here - ho hum.

Hey Rev -

Maybe what that chap Montegnot suggested - a meet in the Bedfordshire area - is quite a good idea. It is suitably central. I wonder whether the estate / staff at Shuttleworth House / College would allow us to meet in the grounds - daft idea perhaps? The college does have a bar and some sort of restaurant facilities I believe.

But there are plenty of country pubs around that area with good parking I think.

I could then pay a visit to Ashwell on the same day and put some flowers on the family grave and visit an old haunt or two. Hey, the Bushell and Strike has a large car park and Wells beer! We could even line the streets with Wedges!

However, Buckinghamshire is where I originally sprouted from and it is always good to see the area again. Hopefully someone can put forward a venue sometime soon and we can all agree!

Don't forget all Wedges welcome this Sunday 14 December at the Mid Essex TVRCC meet at great Totham - short run up the A12 and then some country lanes.

Oddly enough I too keep on thinking of more power. Are we all lunatics?

Too many idea's... just need somewhere central where
everyone can get together...

Idea's for later in the year are great .. always welcome.

I know there will be a Surrey run 5 - and I'm definately going on that .. I also quite fancy doing a
circular route in Essex .. but probably in spring when
the weather in nicer.

I do like the Haynes museum / track idea .. could be a big one for the summer !

MR2Dave -

Well I wasn't going to mention it just now, thought it needed a little more consideration - Shuttleworth House / College does have a long drive too!

However, it does also have the Shuttleworth collection of historic aeroplanes, so if we were to roar up and down the driveway (no racing now!) we would possibly interfere with the normal museum visitors - unless they closed off one netrance and had the museum business going through on end only.

Presumably there might be a similar problem with the Haynes museum?

Of course, if we didn't want to roar up and down the driveway we might still be able to arrange to meet at the college anyway. Just a thought. I wonder if it would cost much. Maybe nothing if we included a visit to the museum which I believe is about £10 per person.

Yaaaaargh!

You can all meet at my house if you want .. its quite central. Parking is ample, but we only have 4 chairs and a sofa

As previously stated, count me in on any meetings after Feb 2004

Too many ideas - probably yes!

Let's just find a good pub with very large car park or a village green/centre where we can all park with a pub or restaurant nearby - or bring our own sandwiches and squash!

Beds / Bucks / Herts is OK with me!

Lets narrow it down to a sunday in Feb, with a meet somewhere near Wycombe ish as this seemed to be suitable to most. I can help work out a route with Gaz if everyone wants, once a pub has been decided on.
There is quite a nice drive out to Henley if that's where we end up.

Gav - Right that's it ... decided.

There is no reason why this should not be a monthly thing.. different venue and amusements each time..

We will need a tunnel at one of the meetings...

Gaz -

I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that, could you repeat the directions please?

Just meet at a pub for gawd's sake!

Rev-erend - it seems like you've got the same problem as I had when trying to get Wedges together. It looks like you've had a better response; but who can say where you're all going to meet! I suggest you nominate a place and stick to it.

Anyone for small-medium-large-as big or small as you like Wedge gathering at Finchingfield near Braintree? I believe some Pistonheads meet here from time to time. Theres a pub, a pond if you want a paddle or to feed the ducks, and a large village green with roads to park in/around. Stansted airport is nearby if you're flying in from abroad or if you have to fly out to escape plod!!!

Any Saturday or Sunday you like except this weekend when it is the TVRCC Mid Essex meet at Great Totham.

Still hope to go to the Feb Big Wedge gathering when you can decide on a venue!

cheers!

How about meet at Wycombe '6' carpark, trundle past Asda and John Lewis towards Lane End, at the roundabout at the end of holmers farm way turn left onto clay lane, past the dump, to the Marlow road, turn left at this junction onto the B482 to Marlow, turn right towards Henly and along the A4155 to Henley, Bounce the sounds off the old buildings along the riverbank and over the bridge and onto the A4130 (white hill) and follow this road to the A404, hop one junction to Bisham Abbey R/bout, and take third exit onto the A308 to the Lemon tree at the top of the hill, its about 20 miles all in, what do you think?

Sounds good to me. I'll be there at 11:00 am on Sunday February 8th - unless someone has a better / different suggestion.
