Cheers York. Course sandpaper? Heck that would take some time the foam is >1/2" thick in places. I was thinking more along the lines of a chisel. Guess sandpaper will work when down to the scraggy bits left as a thin layer.
I was thinking of something chemical to aid things!!

Thinners? Watch for the fire risk.

Ahhh, I ended up with lots of it but in a fairly thin layer, only a few thick bits which I attacked with a wallpaper scraper. The bulk of it came away with the carpet or had already departed thanks to the previous owner!

cheers

yep, removed all mine a few weeks ago and used a chisle, didn't like the idea of using chemicals. Did take a while though......
Hope you are not planning on replacing it with the same type of stuff as I spent weeks trying to get hold of it and gave up in the end.
