Not known to me but I must say somebody is either very brave or stupid to buy one of these from the scant description and without even looking at it!

Hope it works out for them!

Especially considering the seller has a zero feedback.

I haven't used ebay, but I believe the system allows for you to decline the deal if the item is not as described. Plus you can black-mark the seller.

Maybe an ebay expert can confirm or refute this?

Quite true FF.. based on description the buyer has the right to cancel the deal if not as decribed. Leaving negative feedback which sits within the sellers feedback rating would only warn others of a possible unscrupulous seller, but you also have the right to report them to ebay to be removed completely under certain circumstances - however the buyer could still take seller to court based on sales description - but lots of hassle.

It is possible that the buyer could have inspected the car before placing the final bid as you do have that option normally - I should add I have sold 2 cars now unseen over ebay purely on description/photos alone and without any phone calls received at all until arranging collection/delivery. to some I'm sure.

Looking at the registration, I'm sure it's been advertised on PH before.

looks nice though

I have bought and sold quite a variety of stuff on ebay, including motors and have a decent feedback rating.

at the end of the day, its just another way to advertise, you can cancel the auction, back out at any time, withdraw bids etc etc - and there isn't really anything much anyone can do about it un-less you really want to go through court proceedings - most of the time you cant contact the person who has messed you about so why bother trying to take them to court?

IMHO - use ebay to advertise, - if you are selling, dont assume it is sold until you have the money, and dont take a bidder seriously unless they have come to view it, or asked you tons of questions.

If you are buying go and look at it before you place a bid, if you really want it when you go and look at it, make an offer, chances are the seller will take it and cancel the auction.

ebay is a cheap way to advertise to loads of people and a great place to find a bargain - but dont be niave and think its any different to browsing the free ads - all the same rules apply.

I got mine through Ebay, but it was a local car to me so I did have a very good look at it first. The car is good, but you should always check the normal things before agreeing to bid/buy etc.

Price was good for condition of car but I would not have bid without looking at!!!

Appreciate that Paul, just concerned the uninitiated could end up with a whole heap of trouble having been seduced by a pretty picture. Personally I would have felt a little more comfortable if the seller had taken more time to put a detailed description of the car in, he/she hardly comes across as an enthusiast!

Still, what do I know, I hope the buyer has a great car at a good price and what's more that he's local to Wycombe and wants to bring it out to play

BTW loverly Chim!
