Musing on fitting a roll-over bar and full-harness belts.

The bar is something of a no-brainer as regards supply, but I would welcome thoughts on full-harness belts. 3-point/4-point? Do those suggested for Westfields fit?

Thx - Streaky

Surely the six point racing belts are best. I remember them from the 70's - 'Willans' I think they were. Might fit a Wedge - not sure.

Safety? Thought we were all hooligans on here! No - safety is paramount. Be a hooligan but stay responsible and look after yourself and other road users.

It is such a shame though to always drive well within ones own capabilities and in addition make allowances for other road users.

Anyone know some traffic free areas?

Thinking about it a little more, you'll probably need a special race seat for a several point harness that allows for the belt webbing to pass through loops in the seat and thus hold you into the seat. Sparco and Cobra?

And something solid to attach a 6 point harness to.

Yes they might , just something to consider.
I think SteveH has developed brackets to secure the seats to the chassis for added safety.

The seats are bolted through the GF and are not that safe. Racing seats are a bit of a struggle to fit unless they are bolted through the floor. The space for sliders is limited.
Tower View make and supply the seat bars and I do recommend them.

As for harnesses... if you go with the Tower View roll bar which is the one that I have, I have used bth Willans and Luke aircraft buckle release belts. Get the 3 inch wide ones.

3 or 4 point depends on how many eye bolts the roll bar has... The seat bar fits under the floor to support the race seat so that it doesn't come loose in an impact...

Streaky,
In my various toys I've run the various option. 2" & 3" wide 3, 4 & 6 point.
6 point is a no no as the 'crotch' mount would probably only locate on the GRP floor. 3 or 4 mount for a road car is preference really. the 3" wide feel more secure. However I would recommend the basic click (standard seat belt style) buckle with the shoulder webbing attached to the waist belt, in a road car. Why? I found that the full race buckle variety meant that all 4 straps are independant and inevitably one drops behind the seat or down the tunnel side and a PIA. If all attached then they don't generally disappear. Have a look at a Demon Tweaks catalogue and ring them ref: length of the shoulder straps.
My personal preference for a road car would be 4 point, conventional buckle 2" style with padded shoulder straps for added comfort. IMHO of course.
