Neil -

Thanks - sadly cannot make the Wedge meet at Wycombe tomorrow - was hoping the car might be available today but have had no news. I do hope I can meet you all soon. The pic of the underside of your car seems as if it could be coming in useful for comparison purposes - if you have any more please send me a few. From memory, the underside of mine looks just like yours (except for red paint!).

On the hotels front for the BBWF I was thinking of something along the lines of a Post House or Travelodge or Brewer's Fayre etc. - plenty of parking. Something more luxurious might be possible and privately owned hotels might be open to block bookings at dicounted rates. The chains normally do discounted rates for larger bookings and weekend bookings can normally be negotiated lower because they are less occupied.

If we are settled on the Warwickshire/Gaydon as the place (I did think Leicester area initially as being central) then whoever lives locally will know the lie of the land re hotels.

Then we need someone who can negotiate hard to block book. I would have thought that £20-£30 per night could be achieved. I used to negotiate killer deals years ago, but now I am retired I may have lost my edge. Again, probably the local person would be the key here.

Let us not forget the people who normally work at weekends - maybe we could make it a Fri/Sat meet or a Fri/Sat/Sun.

We could even go mad and get the event sponsored!

That's just me thinking out loud again.

EUREKA! BINGO!

Years ago I used to go to the annual conference/meeting of the British Astronomical Association, and this was held at a teacher training college over a Friday to Sunday in July. It only ever used to cost a few quid for the whole weekend INCLUDING meals!

Just think - this great resource of accommodation lying unused in the summer months.

And there was the Student's Union bar, and lecture theatres, (TVR specialists can come and give us lectures - yeah!) and restaurants and bars in town and.....and......

Of course there are colleges all over the country - there's probably a farming college or two in Warwickshire, several Uni's, other colleges, blah blah blah.

Sorted

Book it Dano!

I feel a BBWF weekend coming on!

I'm offering my services as accommodation co-ordinator.

I have a contact at Hayley Conference Centres. Their weekend rate is £50 per room per night (not per person.
Parking would be OK too.

Ettington Chase, Stratford on Avon. J11 or J15 M40

If you think this would be OK, I'll check it out on Monday and see what deal we can get.

Aha! I'll have to wait till I get the photos back from the w'shop. My engineer tells me it is rose jointed fully adjustable suspension all round. He says he'd like a day to re-set it all up!

Rev
Only trying to help sort things. We have loads of comments and plenty of suggestions.
Nail numbers (currently in the 10-20 mark for cars), then a venue (at these numbers my place would work)& date then work from there. We can do our own thing even if at the Heritage with Griffs as the place is large and we could be >100 yards away from the Griffs and only have to split the fee for the venue - this was a suggestion only.
I'm up for it otherwise wouldn't have suggested supporting organisaing stuff, though if the concensus is we end up/go via DGTVR - count me out.
In terms of insurance and stuff if we go to a venue such as the Heritage then we'd need some form of cover to satisfy them, the TVRCC would help.

Alternatively, as suggested, we could meet, Wedges only at my place, (if numbers are likely to be less than 30), book a local Leamington/Warwick Hotel (I Know plenty) and could pass the info to Mrs H who has kindly offered to help.
Roads can be sorted between the locals, me, Blaine, F.Ted, AM, etc & we could talk to the Gaydon (LR/Jag/AML) test drivers whom I know.
Importantly as Wedge mates please don't put down enthusiasm.
So thought starter:-
* Rev's Agenda
* <30 my place - >30 Heritage
* Hotel details to Mrs H - £, etc to follow
* Route sort by resident Midlander
* Talk to TVRCC to get it into calander and Sprint - get the Wedges out of the woodwork.
IMHO of course.

Tas - sorry to interfere, had not seen the original suggestion for your place but I think you've hit the nail on the head. What we need is to figure out the numbers! Is there anywhere on PH where people can add themselves to an event ?

Leave it with MrsH and I , just trying to activate some webspace , so we could do an on line registration

If every one can wait until tomorrow , ISP permitting we should have something sorted .

I hope that small wedges are allowed to 'cos I'm definately up for this. Having said that I can't give a definate answer for the 17th/18th of July yet, as that's too fat in advance for me to have a rota for! However should be able to work my way around it and may even have that weekend off anyway...

BIG BAD WEDGE meet

Wonder whether we could get some of the "Wedge-contemporary" factory guys (and gals?) interested ... Chris Schirle, John Ravenscroft, "The Pole", even PW? - Streaky

Neil,
As ever your a star. I look forward to it - count me in - wonder if the racer could be ready
Streaky; Totally agree with the sentiment but the factory show interest in the Wedge - Nice thought. I suspect having official support gets away from Rev's original idea (a good one at that)of a bunch of Wedge mates/folks meeting up informally. IMHO & my preference would be for a well publicised Wedge meet to see if we can get as many as possible - Tasmin 200's to the last 430SE's and all in between - what a sight ohh and as Stainless might say

Tas -

What is TGTVR?

I can't say I'm mad about TVRCC being involved - it seems it was our idea not theirs - and I haven't yet joined for a particular reason.

I'm glad this is moving along the way I thought it might. As you say we need to ascertain numbers.

Nice idea to meet at yours Tas, but still favour hotel meet with large car park - or even college (probably has roads running around the campus!). However I'm new to all this so will go along with how it all pans out as long as you don't mind me throwing in a suggestion or three from time to time.

Have we made room for weekend workers?

I'll be coming!

I was referring to some of the old Wedge enthusiasts (at the factory and retired), not to getting "official" support - S
