New accelerator Pedal...

Well, out for a blat today and my pedal has snapped off 
Looking at it it's pretty obvious it's not the OEM part (unless the OEM part is a crappy bent bar with a square plate welded on the end).
Ring the AA, tell them it's snapped and they take an hour to send a guy in a transit to see what the problem is. Tell him, he checks on the computer and it tells him that it can't be towed, only moved with a low loader. Cue another hour wait for the truck and now I'm finally home. Chilled to the bone
Has anyone tried replacing the pedal? Is it 'borrowed' from something else or a unique part? I guess I'll have to ring around tomorrow, but a head start on what to expect would be nice
