Overdue images of my refurbed 4.2 RV8.

Halfway through the rebuild we found that the heads had been skimmed and that the replacement gaskets did not line up with the ports, this included the lifter valley pan gasket. We have therefore used a composite gasket opened out the ports to match the port holes.

I also decided to go to a Megsquirt so had to fit the trigger wheel.

All plus a little bling here and there.

Enjoy.

Very impressive Phil ! cloud9

Looking really beautifully presented, and don't these engines look so much better without some rusty old tubes sticking out the side. smile

Thanks guys.

Yes Graham, and that goes for all the fasteners.

I have used polished headed stainless throughout. Just hope I can keep it all clean.

May just give all the ali a light WD40 spray each year and polish off before the BBWF biggrin

Just awaiting the custom ali fuel tanks and then we can lift the body off again.

Question for the bbrain trust.

Looking at the images of my engine above is this a serpentine or pre-serp?

For some reason I thought it was a pre-serp but have just read here in this auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Megasquirt-Megajolt-DTA-...

...that Serp engines have the single long belt running everything.

I'm confused now.

I think the SEAC engines had a variation of the pre-serp. Not the same as the serp front ends you see on the later Chimp/Griffs though. Can't elaborate any more than that I'm afraid but I'm sure they weren't found on other Wedges.

Thanks Guys,

Wasn't there also a noticeable difference in how the oil pump is located and or driven?

On the serp engines the oil pump is driven by the crank not the disy. all wedge engines and early Griff / Chim engines was non serp i.e. dissy driven oil pump but some had seac's had the Group A pulleys that used a serp belt, but they are not classed as a serp engine, if that makes sense.
