Hi Jon,

Just noticed I never responded to your comments.

The engine has just been freshened over as it was running just fine before with Austec's rollers measuring 276 bhp at the wheels. Hopefully the Megasquirt will smooth things out a little to make things a little sweeter but I'd rather have some long term reliability than an extra 50 horses for willy waving.

How's all your projects?

Ah good stuff - that is pretty good power at the wheels - should make it a really nice ride with all the other tastey work you are doing.

Drop me a pm and I'll drop you a few pic's of the Griff as it is at the mo. Rolling chassis done bar brake lines, body painted almost ready to put together, steering, loom and tank mods next.

Just received the new re-sized fuel tanks - and they fit ok.

Body has been taken off the chassis again.

Front shock towers are now getting the strengthening treatment then I think we're ready for chassis treatment.

Dink,

No soundbites with the Rover I'm afraid, at least not yet.

This car will be setup on the rollers rather than an engine dyno.

Just need the find a hub dyno (I don't like slipping tyres) and an operator that is experienced in tuning Megasquirt ECU's.

I hope the car is ready for paint before Christmas or early 2012.

Phil, you could contact Paul at Wortec, one of the companies that does all his bonkers LS / Holden upgrades has a hub dyno (think down south somewhere). Mind he did mine as I think anyone familiar with the use of a particular ECU should be able to by driving it around for a day or so under all sorts of load conditions - this should get you map 95% there then the last bit is simply done on a good rolling road like SRR.

These are the drawings of my new fuel tanks.

I have the raw pdf's should anyone require them.

While narrower than the originals to allow space for 285 wide rubber under stock arches they do in fact have increased capacity as they fill the void above the standard tanks.

Hi Phil..Looks like everything is moving along swimmingly...Just wondered how big the joining filler pipe is that joins and fills the second tank?..The original is 2" and that looks a lot less..Just thought id ask as if its any less wouldnt it take ages to fill?..I did have a company in mind to produce plastic tanks as they are lighter and less flammable..The drawings could come in very handy..Ziga

Not very good pic's I'm afraid but here's conversion pic's from nice looking but poor performing SEAC mirrors to Mercedes SLK (pre-facelift version which are smaller than the later model) mirror on the offside.

Advantages over stock mirrors,

1. Split angle lens to minimise blind spot.

2. Tinted and heated lens.

3. Anti-dazzle sensor

4. Fold-in

5. Built-in LED indicators for blind people.

I'll say it again, my fibreglass man Nick in Bishops Stortford is the nuts.

Hi Matt,

AFAIK the engine has a hybrid 218 cam supplied by V8 Developments to the previous owner.

Lobes were checked and all was considered good so decided to leave alone.

I never had any problems with the engine so just decided on the bling and moving to Megasquirt for mappable fuel and ignition for hopefully smoother running and a little improvement in economy.

I am looking for reliability above all else.
