Hi Alan,

Won't effect performance as rolling radius the same or as near as dammit with 245/45/15's

Front and rear suspension being replaced with parts designed to work with said low profile tyres.

Don't worry, these guys are really very good.

Too many rosettes on the walls of their workshop smile

They want to go with AP brakes all round while I want Brembo yellow bling/performance but both are not inexpensive as I'm sure you know.

Anyway, one step at a time.

Hi Dave,

Yes, looks great.

There's also Hand in The Netherlands that offers big brakes for TVR's included wedges however my front & rear hubs are somewhat bespoke and with Jag PCD now so I really must let these guys complete the job their way.

+ I'll be running 18" rims so can fit larger discs than in your photo biggrin

I do however wasnt to max out the drilled disc and caliper size for that 'in your face' look and hopefully excellent performance with correct balanced etc.

I hear where you're coming from and I know the ride will be harsher but I kind of prefer it. The tyres on my other car are nearly as low and I'll be going lower still as the factory stock 285/40/15's Pirelli P7's are no longer in production and with only a few Yoka's out there of course with taller wheels.

I think part of the problem people have is switching to lower profile tyres and staying with factory standard shocks & springs. This is bound to cause problems don't you think?

David,

I'm aware there are potential problems with drilled discs but AFAIK this is from heavy track use and not regular street use.

I read somewhere that the reason most of the exotica out there still use drilled discs is more for aesthetic reasons and the fact that they tend to go for more holes to lower the unsprung weight if only by a small amount.

Anyways, my car will only be used on the street and I want some of that bling.

Hi Al,

The problem was back then I though the car handled reasonably well.

How little did I know.

My De Tomaso is nearly twice the weight (3800lb) and handles twice as good as the SEAC.

I wish to reverse that position and the first thing was a stiff chassis.

See you soon.

Thanks Al.

Hi Crawford,

PH's pm service is sometimes not so hot.

I've been trying to contact you for more than a year weeping

I'd like to have the contact details of your local garage that painted your car as I was very impressed with the quality.

From memory I believe he has something to do with Porches. Am I correct.

Alternatively pm me your contact number and I'll call you.

Tnx

Now Leigh,

You haven't seen what's going on the rear.

Everything will balance out nicely.

I will post pics AND spec's when I the bottom half is complete - any day now.

Even though I haven't requested it I've decided to go for a suitable AP master cylinder. Like most everything on my car it's either an unknown quanity, shagged or both.

Regards the servo, not sure what to do here. I'm leaving this up to the resto shop. They have a lot of circuit racing experience.

Here's some of their previous work. In-house ali hats.

This is the kind of low & wide look I'm trying to recreate;

Either of these wheels were on the shopping list but the price scared me off;

or

so probably going with a far more affordable rim from Ecanto:

I'm in touch with the Canadian factory. Then I'll get them painted black or dark grey like the Lambo's.

Don't believe in halves Simon, unfortunately one goes nearly bankrupt reaching for the stars - and I have two car builds on the go can you believe it?

Leigh, nice. What have you down out back to balance things up re braking performance?

What make of shocks do you use front & rear?

Have you still got the Salisbury internals in the diff or have you had to go to Quaiff?

One thing I won't be doing is dumping clutches!

Getting there, slowly.

Rear AP outboard disc brakes with 4-pot calipers inside 10 x 18 Team Dynamics rims. Excuse the white rim protector.

You can also see the small Brembo handbrake caliper.

Just waiting now for final machining on brackets for the 6-pots up front.

Excuse my camera work but I'm not David Bailey.

Hi Leigh,

The answer is the same for these cars:

They'll never see a race track where heat build-up = brake fade and so we all go for that 'bling' effect.

Simples biggrin

Hi Paul,

Ah yes.

Don't worry. Once it's been painted it'll be dropped off at your place for that final Glassman magic touch. biggrin

A certain wheel 'manufacturer' in Birmingham keep making mistakes with my wheels. This is the main cause of lack of progress on the car.

First batch had incorrect offset.

Second batch had incorrect PCD and name engraved on the side of the front wheels but not on the rears.

I specifically told two parties at the factory both by telephone and a follow-up e-mail that I did not want their name on my wheels.

they delivered another set of front again with the name 'engraved' on the side of the wheel.

I'm driving up on Tuesday to tell them face to face what I want. Maybe that instruction will work.

I'll take more photo's once the chassis is rolling with wheels and rubber, ok?

It's a tight fit on the rear but have triple checked all measurements and of course had custom offset wheels made for both front & rear.

My fibreglass guy can produce a rear diffuser blindfolded as he has 40+ year experience with G/F but it's down to cost as I've spent a ton of money on my car already and my name is not the NHS.

I'll keep you posted. Whatever happens it will need some bodywork modification to fit it on the rear of our cars. I much prefer a full-on diffuser not one of these Micky Mouse versions you see on everyday production cars.

Very good Al.

Not difficult though, was it? smile

Just thinking about it at the moment.

Don't fancy a muffler in the boot however confused

I think I'll get the car back on the road and this can be considered at a later date once I've saved the pennies.
