Does anyone by chance know the theory of operation of the two tanks and swirl pot as we cannot see how the second tank is run dry?

This may be a pointer to why the fuel gauge drops rapidly once you hit one quarter full!

I will be having a new pair of ali tanks made giving me the necessary space under the stock SEAC arch for 285 tyres. Am considering having left and right filler caps. The new designs will actually have increased capacity as there are a couple of voids not filled by the current design.

Next job measuring up for the new rear suspension.

That's the idea Wayne.

I have the SH tie bars here now if you still want them?

I think you're up the A1 so can meet you at South Mimms services at your convenience.

Hi Phil

just looking at your welded up chassis and it looks like its missing the tubes at the back of the chassis that go back at say 30 deg atached to the area where the diff is bolted, are you going to add it or leave it out for your fatt tyers... hehe
The chassis is looking good, even better when the car is back in one pice.
I was under mine today and its different from your on the front, interesting to find out why they did that to yours.

Cheers

Hi Cam,

What's different with your SEAC up front? As you can see one of my front diagonal tubes was relocated and I'm not exactly sure why!

I believe your car is later? Mines an 88.

Re the rear, I'm no techy when it comes to suspension design but it seems we're looking to have a rear suspension that works somewhat better than what was implemented at the factory. I believe following similar theory to Lotus in one or more of their models.

I'll get the low down on my next trip out to the resto shop in a couple of weeks.

Received the exhaust manifolds back from Camcoat today. Very nice finish.

Well looking at our photo it doesn't seem obvious, but the two large pipes are supposed to be connected together with a big fat pipe. It looks like yours are blanked off?

The tanks have the fat pipe plus a lower thinner one connecting them, they should then equalise levels unless you are using it at greater than 1 mpg. (Steve are you reading this ;^)

I thing the fat one is more for filling, at a decent rate.

Going for galvanising at a great company called: www.wedge-galv.co.uk/hehe

The colour's called "Dustbin Silver"

That isn't "hot dip" galvanising is it?

If so it won't just be the colour that's called "dustbin"....

Seriously, don't go there, it'll distort to buggery.

Latest report back on the wires:

I need to replace the front suspension rose joints to set the suspension.

The old ones are no good….One has the ball broken out of the socket…and the others are seized.

We need:-

2 off Female 18mm bore….18mm x 1.5 thread.

2 off male ¾ bore….7/8 x 14 thread.

As they are for the front suspension….Quality is important.

Does anyone have recommendations on good quality components, brand with part numbers would be good?

Did I read another thread a while back regarding grease nipples?

Need to order a set fast driving

You say that I said something in that thread link you posted that implies I think there are no problems with galvanising when I haven't even said anything in the thread at all.

For the record... I do think there is quite a risk with galvanising and it's not something I would consider. Especially as a galvanised chassis is now very difficult to weld or repair due to the toxic fumes that are given off.

Steve,

I was responding to Adam and pointing to previous posts by both yourself and I.

Nothing to do with misquoting.

Sorry if it came over that way.

BTW, I'm hoping any welding and chassis repairs are out of the way prior to galvanising.

Check out the photo's above.
