Seeing the recent thread about a Wedge towing a trailer, does anyone have any experience of fitting a tow bar? I'm thinking of towing a boat and it would be double the fun to use the Wedge and the boat in the same weekend.

??? Just think Gerry - you could also tow a caravan and go on your hols!

What boat is it?

Tower View had a full blown tow bar (still have it I suspect) that bolts to the chassis.

I thought about using but as I need to remove it for sprinting and I don't need to pull much weight (about 250kg) I didn't use it and came up with my own design which Tower View welded up for me. May need some additional work to support a boat though.

There are restrictions on safe towing weights and I would suspect that a boat would be a bit borderline. Would be worth checking first. The electrics were dead easy to fit as all the source wires are at the back anyway.

No problems with the insurers either.

Steve - thanks for the information. I'll give them a call.

Firefox - sorry, I can't buy a caravan, 'cos I've lost my knotted hankie and my trousers are too tight to roll up. I also need new braces as the old ones have got spots of tomato sauce on them. I did see a 40 ft Winnebago in Los Angleles once, which appealed. Slept four in luxury, a dining table like the one at Blenheim Palace and armchairs which wouldn't look out of place at the Manoir aux Quat's Saisons. There was also space at the back for a small car and a Harley. Four years old and a snip at $99,000. Different world!!!

40ft, mm so that would come under the category of a small camper van then...

over their at sebring last week and every one seemed to have one at least twice that size.

sebring was the same as Le mans just replace the tents with 50ft camper vans and all the sports cars with 20ft long pickup trucks...

I even managed to spot a 2004 lhd tuscan s, a griff 200 a grantura and more importantly a 280i whilst i was there

I've seen a motorbike towing a caravan on the A120
near Chelmsford (yes deepest essex!) so a wedge
should have no problems!

Shame - I can't have that yank motor home then! It seems 39ft is max for standard licence.
