They look a bit like Schnorr washers with that pattern, albeit these are flat. Perhaps to stop them rotating and wearing? Don't know.

Yeah could be a Nord-lock - very expensive...

The shims are completely flat, just with grooves in them. I did a bit of googling, and it appears the intent is to allow oil to flow across the shim and reduce the heat transfer from the cylinder head to the valve spring. Sounds optimistic to me!

Only a few of the shims have these grooves so I'd guess they were selected based on thickness, and some just happened to have grooves in them.

I'm planning to have K-Line valve guide liners installed. Hopefully that will not upset the concentricity of the valve seats to the guides, and will mean that the valve seats will not have to be recut.

You've probably told me already, but where did you get you trigger wheel from? I'm upgrading to a 100amp alternator and will fit the trigger wheel whilst swapping out the 'V' pulleys for 'ribbed'. I want to fit the pick up bracket at the same time.

Hi Martin, what valve sizes do you have? Just stripping my SEAC and have roughly 34 / 40 with a basic outside measurement

They're 37/42.5. I couldn't find any references to this inlet valve size in books/websites, so I'm not sure where the valves come from or if they are some sort of special.

Good stuff. Does the beer help with the lubrication?

Valve grinding is pretty boring and tedious, it needs lubrication....

The heads are ready now, time to move on to the block. The cam bearings are worn and need replacing, so I need to strip the bottom end to get access. The dry sump pan is off...

The bottom end has been assembled with some care, there's lots of evidence of fettling...

I'm hoping the crank journals are OK... but I suspect it'll need a regrind.

If you have not bought a trigger wheel yet, I have a new one that I did not use from trigger wheels.

Hi Leigh, I have a trigger wheel but I may call on your services; I need to change the cam bearings in the block. Do you have the mandrels for that?

The crank is out now and it's in great condition, that's a relief.

Good Result on the Crank,
That's one thing I don't currently have, the plan was to make some when I needed them.
