Adding nothing of value to the thread other than, I was only 7 when this monster rolled off the production line- I loved it then and now I'm old and OCD, I love it more. Great to see the car being treasured. Makes my Audi history look (even more) souless and defunct of character! Off to the classifieds for me...

There is a thread running where it was for sale for 65K but has now been put back into storage.

Mega looking car mate but I don't want to put a damper on it but I think they dropped the W.H of the logo before 1986 here is a pic of my c5 that bakers sponsored in 1985 my dad was a manager there for many years

You're right about the name change but I'm not sure about the year. From '87 if not before, the logo was as on your C5 and the business was known as Baker Ford.

I did most of the advertising and signs for Baker Hire - the rental division. Recently found a pic of Eric Baker's Sierra 4x4 Estate on which I did a livery as course car for the Welsh Rally '88 or '89.

Also wondering if your dad is Bob Griffiths, Manager of the Rental/contract division?

Nothing to contribute, except to say that this thread brought back memories of the (brand new) cars that my late Dad bought from Baker's, before we moved from Merthyr to Cardiff.

A black Ford Pop 103E (HB 8002), a black Anglia 100E (3 bar grille), a green Anglia 100E (mesh grille), and a white Consul Mk2 lowline (AHB 202).

Further apologies for another late reply Griffo! So glad to hear that Bob is your dad and still around. Do pass on my best wishes - He may remember me as one of the partners in the agency at Rhiwbina who did the TV and other advertising for Baker Hire. Ask if he ever hears from John Lee these days?

I must say that Bakers were always a pleasure to deal with, the like of which one doesn't encounter these days. I am sure Bob will remember the amount of 'important' business that was conducted in the Richards Arms at Abercanaid! On one occasion a creative process that resulted in a Fiesta being 'flown' around the place beneath a helicopter! Happy days.

I used to work as a Tech. for Bakers & I’m sure that was Simon Weston’s car. I was sent to his house with Jules the Apprentice to recover it back to the workshop. His Mam played Holy Hell with us!
