Can anyone recommend a wheel refurbisher in South Wales, I have cross-spokes on a TVR wedge, and would really like them dipped, painted and polished? Jay

Renowheel in Bridgend. Always fantastic work carried out. I've seen counless sets of wheels go to them, Mainly diamond cut and polished wheels. Highly recommended.
If you have some valuble wheels, I wouldn't take them anywhere else.

Another vote for Renowheel. They've done loads of the Wedge Split Rims too including mine off my old 450SE.

I've had a few sets done at Renowheel, they're good but they're make sure you agree timescales, they're always flat out and 4 days can easily become 3 weeks

Renowheel do take their time, but once they explain the processes of refurbing diamond cut wheels and why it takes a week, you dont mind, especially when you see the final results.
Well worth the wait.

Just had My Wheels done at a very reasonable price for all 4 wheels. by a chap carrying out some work on my neighbors car, so popped out to have a chat with him and he gave me a price for my wheels to be done. He collected my wheels Friday PM and returned them lastnight looking much better than they did.

Call Joel on 07739965535 he also does other work and i can recommended his work.

Don't mean to be rude for asking but what did that cost you and did he repair any damage or just painted them?

To the question from the OP, PPS coatings in Hirwaun seem rather cheap. They will sand blast and powder coat but do not carry out repairs if the wheel is damaged. I almost had mine done there but i have some curbing I want to sort out so it wasn't suitable. They were very cheap though, maybe £150 all in.

>holy thread ressurection<

Have 8 wheels to do. Had a look at Renowheels' website and they are so confident of what they do they offer a 6 nmonth warranty (but not for "appearance of corrosion"). Very confidence inspiringrolleyes!

Does anyone know of anywhere else locally - I need to KNOW that they will dip them in acid, skim any fix any metal scuffs and then powder coat and bake them. Then they will balance the tyres PROPERLY with a road pressure applying Hunter type machine. Yes... wish me luck LOL!

PPS.. the guy in there didn't really want to know when I showed him my car when asking for a price on a refurb. it was a real chore.

he also said he couldn't really do much with the kurbing in that when he sands down and powder coats over the curbed areas they will still be visible.. so I left it.

wouldn't bother with powder coating wheels full stop in my opinion!

I have to be honest, i had the exact same reception with regard to my wheels. He said most of the kurbing wouldn't really show once powder coated but that wasn't any good for me. If your wheels just have flaking then its a good price for blasting and coating.

Why wouldn't you have wheels powder coated anyway?

Can recommend the wheel specialists in Cwmbran. They did a cracking job on my AMG.

acid dip, damage repaired, powder coat & paint. Priced by size for what I recall but think I paid about £360 for 4x 19" turbines

Good luck.

After taking my car to several places for opinions, it turns out the wheels on my R32 have been 'over powder coated' because looking at the finish of the spokes there thousands of little dimples.. they really annoy me up close but that's my OCD taking over. Their also done in a 'standard silver' which again looks a bit naff. I just generally don't think powder coated wheels have a nice enough finish compared to a wet painted wheel.. although the PC wheel would probably be more durable to the elements if prepped properly.

the most annoying thing about PC wheels is that once their kurbed their not particularly easy to touch in or repair like you could on a wet painted wheel..hence why the PPS chap said id see the repaired areas on the kurbed areas when he re powder coats them.

although to be fair regarding finish, either will only ever be as good as the person who's doing it I guess!

PPS in Hirwaun, I've had work done and found them brilliant for what they've charged. Yes the kurbing is still evident but the finish has been flawless in over 12months and 12,000 miles, using acid free cleaners. I can post photos if required. The approach of the owner be best described as non-pulsed mind, better dealing with the younger manager.
