I've got to pop down from Gloucestershire to Cardiff this Saturday to take my lad and his mate to a gig at Motorpoint Arena. I usually park in the open air car park on Adam Street but was wondering if it's likely to be full, bearing in mind that there's a big Rugby match on in the afternoon - not planning to be in Cardiff until 6ish so I'd hope that any match traffic would have left by then.

Any thoughts on alternative parking are appreciated.
Cheers

My first thought was Park & Ride, but that's only daytime.

Try the St David's Centre, across the road from Motorpoint:

Will cost you a whopping £2 to park in the evening, but you'll need to make sure you miss the rugby crowds and there'll be plenty of people for Motorpoint doing the same as you.

I've been to loads of gigs at the Motor-Point and I would not park in St Davids Parking.

2 reasons:-
Everyone parks there so when the gig finishes it is a complete nightmare to get out (plus it is a merry go round to get up and down).
They sometimes block off the road around Motor-Point especially if a big gig so the exit to St Davids Parking get stopped for ages.

The first time I parked there for a gig I waited an hour to get out, never again.

Personally if you want a car park close to Motor-Point I always park in the John Lewis Car Park, it is just a few yards further and I have never get stuck.

Agree with all of that. Avoid St David's, it's a nightmare getting out.

I would park and always do when I go to the Motorpoint in the open air carpark just around the corner opposite the Atrium building. Never had a problem getting out and the rugby traffic will be long gone by then.

Cheers Red. That's the one I usually use. Dead easy to get out afterwards and it's the right side of town for me. Hopefully it's nicely empty by 6 pm

Failing that there's always the pay and display outside the castle. I think it's free after 6pm too (or at least it used to be).

The NCP right next door is now £1/hr too. People avoid it because they think it still charges the old rip-off prices, so generally easy to find a space.
