I have removed the Cat from my 1.9tdi PD130 Bora and wondering if there is anywhere nearby I can get some cash for it? I live near Ystrad Mynach.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Mike

Any scrap yard will take them, ring round a few in your area to get an idea on price. You will need to register with the scrap yard you choose, straightforward to do, just check with them what ID you will need when you go in.

I've tried at a few scrappies/metal recycling places to get rid of an old cat - wouldn't take them. Took all the other bits and bobs though. Last place I tried was sims metal management in Carmarthen.

Would be interested myself to know of any places that take them - and quite happy to provide ID etc which seems to be the standard these days anyway.

Thanks guys.

Ended up using a very nice company in Llandow called JWB Metals. Highly recommended and good prices offered. I got £76 for the Cat and all was legit (I.e. ID, no cash etc.). He even kindly increased the original quote as the price had gone up that day!

Very pleased!

Finally got around to getting rid of the couple of cats I had. 1 from a ford focus donor car I stripped for a kit car project, the 2nd from the kit car demonstrator I ended buying instead. smile

Turned out the "cat" from the kit car was actually empty. Thought it was a bit light and just thought it was a hi flow one. Doh!

For the ford focus standard one I got a whopping - £8. That's almost 75% of what I got for the rest of the kit car frame earlier elsewhere mind you. smile Metal prices don't seem to be that great at the mo..?

Took a while trying to get my details and the cat on the system, but were a chatty/friendly bunch and I was even given a couple of cakes while I was waiting. biggrin

Was this at Broughshire? They had a new computer system put in on Monday and it was chaos. Not happy on the cake bit, never been offered. frown

Yup, it was at Broughshire. I think the cake thing was actually a charity collection thing as they also had a collection box. I did contribute. smile

I almost admitted that I work in IT, but realised it was more of an operational issue with the software/app they use rather than a PC problem. biggrin
