Could do it in less, but not much, especially when the M42 is always a biatch!

Pretty much 3.5 hours each way on Wednesday.

How about this one?

Just up the road from me, great area and about 30 mins to Cardiff through the lanes. Plenty of space for a garage to be built, and I can recommend a very local builder (lives on same lane) to do the work!

We did look at that one but that garden is lovely and we would just ruin it. We're not really gardeners.

Went to have a look at a barn conversion while I was down on Monday. It was barely converted about 18 years ago and right near to the large St Athan buildings. |So it was a definite no

I know exactly which place you mean. It is way too close to the main road and railway line for my liking.

The other place with the 'nice' garden is just down the road from my house. smile

Must be a different one as it wasn't too close to anything apart from the neighbouring farm and one other house. No railway nearby either.

Anyway, thanks to all so far and Merry Christmas to you all in sunny south Wales.

Merry Christmas to you too fella. Just to say we are over the moon with our move, we've stumbled upon a lovely little community here. Been getting out and about doing shopping etc locally and everyone is so nice and friendly, very chatty. Got a great feeling about the place already.

Happy New Year everyone!

Well looks like that job was not to be. They offered a temp contract and I turned it down. Long story.

Anyway, it looks like Mrs TT will be moving alone initially into digs for a while.

No further movement on the house here so we're in limbo.

Job applications being fired off.

Ho hum.

A couple of pubs, a small shop, nothing else but houses, some new, some old. Oh and a primary school. We looked at it as it seems nice enough, however ruled it out due to possible school catchment changes and the fact we wanted a bit further west.

Oh, google for the route of the new proposed M4 relief road, it runs quite close which was also a concern. I can envisage increased noise both during construction and when it's completed. There are also a couple of travelling sites within a few miles.

Good info thanks.

IF (note the big IF) I am interperting the map correctly the new road will loop up to join the existing motorway before it reaches Marshfield.

The bit where I am looking appears to be in the SSSI (I think.

ETA: Hmm, maybe the last bit of the road would be close to the top and the property I was considering would be quite close. Maybe why they are selling perhaps.

Good catch, Thanks

Hi guys. Suddenly things are getting very real.

House sold STC and SWMBO starts new job on Monday.

House and job hunting now need to step up significantly.

Spent last weekend decorating one of the bedrooms to improve chances on the upcoming viewings - Wasted weekend! irked

So tonight we will sit down and wade through the houses we have been shortlisting to see which ones we fancy viewing.

Hornetrider, would you mind if I email the list to you to check over since some may be ones you already viewed?

Fortunately we already have an appointment with the bank to discuss a mortgage in case we need a top up. Yes the budget has grown again!

Alright already, we're working on it. smile

SWMBO had her 'leaving do' yesterday so it was a bit of a busy evening.

Not sure if it's your 'thing' but they are building newbuilds just outside of Llangan. Bit pricey mind, but they are offering part-ex which makes things easier if you haven't got a sale yet.

See my comment yesterday smile

Would like a "character property" so not really into new builds

Exactly how pricey is pricey?

Our buyer has accpted an offer on theirs from a cash buyer smile

We walked past the Colwinston one when we were down before Xmas and looked it up. It's about £100K over absolute max budget!

In which case buy this:

You can fall out of the pub back into it and all the character you'll ever need. I wasn't brave enough to buy it but I'd sure like to visit it hehe
