All suggestions are good suggestions as you never know what I might have missed.

The carpenter was for the barn conversion which is now no longer available so thanks but not needed now, unfortuntley.

Still looking ATM.

Another cross border foray is planned for early next week.

it is noticeable that many of the properties that have been OTM for a while are reducing their prices and there's some new stuff emerging.

The next door to us has the "for sale" sign up, but it's no longer on the agents site. This is.

Are they putting the kickboards on the kitchen units or is that extra storage space?

Well, another frustrating but ultimately fruitful (not in the way you might think) trip to Wales is over.

On Wednesday I found a hot prospect with garage, workshop, good location and good kitchen - it all added up so we called the agent who said they couldn't arrange a viewing until today as they didn't have anyone to accompany the viewing and the owner was away until Wednesday. So, rather then head down over the bank holiday weekend I travelled down yesterday to looked at some other properties (no joy but they were outsiders) with the intention of being the first viewers. As I drove down yesterday morning I received a phone call at 9:00AM from the agent to tell me the owner has agreed a sale. To say I was gobsmacked and irritated was an understatement.

We went and did a drive past anyway and fortunately concluded the property wasn't for us.

On the positive side we met a fellow PH'er Martin and his wife who have very kindly offered to rent us a flat they have just bought as a BTL on a very flexible and preferential basis in Rhibwina. We cannot thank him enough and he and his good lady will be on our Christmas list. To say SWMBO is happy to be bale to move out of her Uni 1 room digs is an understatement.

Martin, we thank you bow

Now I just need to sort the car storage as I'm pretty sure we will need to be out of our old house by end April.

The search continues...

Who knew it could be this difficult.

At least things are moving in the right direction now. Plus once you are down here, veiwing potential properties will be much less hassle.

Oh and by the way, its Rhiwbina. wink

I'm just glad it doesn't start with "Llan" as everywhere else seems to.

It's not my fault if the Welsh can't spell (it's Welsh you 'tard!) wink

At least I can spell viewing! biggrin

Sorry Trev!

You are spot on about the viewings but it adds a level of complication on how I exit my current job.Keep the funds coming while I look down there by renting a room up here or leave and become a man of leisure until I find a job.

No need to apologise, TT. I'm an Englishman too. The difference however, is I've been living here for years and can now make a passable job of pronouncing the place names around here. You on the other hand, have that delight to look forward to. biggrin

I've just realised that it is 6 months since I started this thread. I didn't think it would take this long to sell our house and find a new place.

No trip to Wales last weekend as we were spending the weekend clearing out the loft and getting rid of as much junk as possible.

You wouldn't believe how many old car & bike magazines I had in the loft. Car Mechanics magazine from 1982 anyone? Or various bike magazines from the 1980s?

It seems as though we will become tennants very soon as although an exchange or completion date hasn't been set yet we are expecting the call any day now and the rest of the chain are eager to go. The one thing holding up the sale is our buyers who, after hassling us because our boiler was a month over its 12 month service period, discovered their boiler hadn't been serviced for 5 years and are having to get it done for their buyer's peace of mind. Still, its not like they have any kids or anything. Oh, hang on a moment...

I now have to think seriously about my exit strategy from my current job. I really expected to have been made redundant by now as there is so little I am able to do here due to circumstances beyond my control.

SWMBO is doing some more drive-bys today so maybe, just maybe we will find the house for us.

Wow, 6 months! I dont think anyone here expected it to take this long!!

I think work wise, Boss man may have heard of your move (as you've suspected) and is just biding his time until you have to give in your notice. I'd say paying you to do bugger all is cheaper in his head than a redundancy package.

Good luck with the fly bys, hope something comes up soon, and in the mean time I'll keep looking for local storage facilities for the cars, and any properties suitable I see on my travels

Just had a call from the estate agent: Our buyer is almost ready to go, can we complete on 1st May rofl

I think I told them we would need a date to work to and a few weeks notice but less than two weeks notice...

Good job I've started packing isn't it.

Living acommmodation is the least of our worries thanks to Martin.

Car storage, notice at work, removals and storage of furniture and other "sensitive" items all need to be organised as well as helpers to assist with the movement of the above plus SWMBO having time off to make final preps etc when she's away all week.

We made them aware all along we would need a date to work towards. Apparently its their Solicitors who have been dragging their heels - Amazing eh?

After much to-ing and fro-ing we have tentatively agreed on 9th June as a completion date for the sale.

They asked why we wouldn't complete while we are on holiday? Erm, for the same reason you won't while one of you is working away.

Sheesh - some people.

As for somewhere permanent to live - still looking - SWMBO is doing regular drive bys on the houses that come up and viewings where appropriate but nothing so far.

Getting worried now!
