Phil, you rewn't derailing the thread at all, just adding information and perspective which is no bad thing.

Actually we don't need a bog house really, but to get a double size+ garage there seems little option.

SWMBO is due to move job locationfrom the Heath to the centre of cardiff (Eastgate House) in September so really need to keep the commute time to around 30 mins to there - my requirement not hers.

We looked at some houses in Caeleon - its a long commute - at least it seemed like it.

I think that the estate agents are erm, assisting each other, in the Vale and that's why house prices there are so buoyant.

[Apprentice mode] And the search continues.... [/Apprentice mode]

Fancy a view?

Nice but check proximity to M4.

Laleston is nice but it may be borderline commute, this is a short distance from Laleston.

I'd say Ogmore is beyond the commutable distance sadly but it's a lovely village (I would say that!). I'll be coming from Ogmore into Llanishen in North Cardiff most mornings and expect it to take 45mins.

Laleston is probably just beyond commuting tome too.

If Mrs TT is moving to East Gate house then perhaps the train is an option for her commute? If so then Queen street is closest and well served by trains North Cardiff and beyond.

Double garage with a house also in Dinas Powys? Close to a nice village square (triangle in reality).

Edit: maybe not, its next to a huge glasshouse

Saw that one a while ago. Been OTM since 2012. It has a restrictive covenant so can only be sold to agricultural workers.

How would the commute be from Ogmore by Sea?

SWMBO viewed the second one. Definitely too close to M4

Third one is t'other side of Bridgend - A bridge too far I think.

That answers those questions. I should have read your posts first - sorry.

Knackered! Movers coming back first thing in the morning to finish up prior to completion, then a transit drive to Cardiff and back followed by a night in a Harborough hotel and down to the flat to take up residence on Wednesday.

Look out Cardiff, here we come.

Well, after a hectic few days, we have arrived in Cardiff as residents. smile

Now the house and job hunting can step up a level. With money in the bank I suspect the estate agents may be our best friends.

We are looking forward to meeting you all in the near future once we have settled in the flat (for now).

One of the small hiccoughs yesterday was my friend in Abergavenny informed me that of course i was still welcome to leave the Chim on his drive for a couple of days but felt I should know his cars had been vandalised recently on his driveway.yikes

Good to know t'internet works in the flat. Quick too!

Thanks Vince. I have stored it in a local storage unit for now. A bit expensive but buys me time.
