I've tried contacting a couple of floor sanding & resto businesses regarding the parquet floors in the house we recently moved to but get no response.

Can anyone recommend one near Cardiff please?

If all else fails I might hire the sanders and do it myself. How hard can it be? spin

I have done a couple of floors in the house.
First was normal t&g and hired sanders. 12'square room and done in a day, make sure all nails are punched down or they will rip the sanding discs. Finished with stain and varnish.
Room two was last year ....oak floor. Belt sander and finishing sander. Belt to tidy up well worn areas and finishing sander to key the rest.
I finished the oak with hard wax rather than varnish etc. Easy to apply and fast drying. Brushed on and two coats given.
Wax cost £60 or so for 2.5l tin and still got half left for future use. Will give havy wear area a coat again soon but a quick job due to easy prep/application/drying.
Be prepared for a dust storm and sore knees though!

Thanks sospan.

Your post is interesting as I thought the sanding and refinishing could be done without too much kneeling by renting the sanding machines.

I can't spend time on my knees unfortunately. They're already knackered.

One of the companies I contacted actually called me just after I posted so I'll have a quote tomorrow all being well.

Hi, I've had my floors done the last few years by a family business. I've had 3 rooms done, one at a time. They live away but do come to Cardiff for work etc so they're normally local quite often. Give Alan from Style Flooring a ring on 07761 975398. Say Chris from Cardiff gave you their number. Genuine tidy guys
