Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival 29th April 2006

The Bristol & West Section of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, together with Bristol City Council, will again host the annual Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival (previously called Bristol Italian Car Festival) from 10am. to 4pm. on Saturday 29th April 2006. Following the same successful format as previous years, the event will bring some of Italy’s most desirable and charismatic cars, motorcycles and scooters into the heart of the Old City. The event will be centred on the St Nicholas Street/Corn Street area, surrounded by some great restaurants, pubs, cafes and the Saturday market stalls. The display streets will be closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian friendly zone where the cars and bikes may be safely viewed. This is going to be a show not to be missed!

In 2006 we will hold our fourth Festival and each year has been a much greater success than the previous. By 2005 we had doubled in size with over 170 private entries, including a Pagani Zonda, 70 Alfa Romeos and 40 Ferraris and a fantastic assortment of Lamborghinis, Lancias, Maseratis and Fiats plus stunning Italian motorcycles and scooters. For 2006 we are planning further expansion. The programme will include two ‘Gentlemen (and ladies) Start Your Engines’ sessions and interviews with vehicle owners over the public address system. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the event. The Bristol company Protyre will be exhibiting for the first time and have promised to bring an F1 car simulator – fun for ‘drivers’ of all ages! Parc Fermé Valeting will demonstrate the correct way to clean and polish a car, and there will be a fine array of racing cars from the Bristol Pegasus Motor Club, the Castle Coombe Circuit Racing School and the Abarth Club. The Bristol Mods will be with us again; displaying their colourful, classic Italian scooters and the Moto Guzzi and Moto Rumi Clubs will be joining us for the first time. St Nicholas Street will be a hive of activity, the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub will be providing street entertainments and there will be Italian car and scooter dealers, market stalls and classic cars. Latest News: Entries received so far include: Ferraris and Maseratis, some notable Alfa Romeos including SZs and RZs, a 1954 1900C SS by Touring Series 2 and 1929 6c 1750SS. We are also promised a number of Montreals for the first time. Also entered are some exceptional Fiats, including Dino coupes and Spiders, Graham Nicholson’s fantastic Topolino and a 1936 Lancia Agusta Berlina. Pat Lockyer has promised to bring along his almost unique Stabilimenti Farina bodied Jowet Jupiter and Franco Macri will show his equally rare Zagato bodied 'Zimp.' Motorcycle entries continue at a fast pace with Ducatis, Moto Guzzis and MV Agustas out in force.

For entries and information please phone 0117 947 5814 or Email alfamail@ourhemanpal.co.uk. with your Name, Address, Phone and Mobile Numbers and your vehicle details. To enter on line - www.arocbriswest.co.uk and click the link on the Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival page.

Unsolicited comments received following the 2005 festival: -

“Count us in for next year. We had such a great time, we wouldn't miss it for the world.”

"It looks a fantastic event – and can’t wait to be part of it!"

"After such a fantastic day last year there's no way I'll be able to keep away."

"Just thought I would let you know that the festival was one of the very best Italian car days I have ever been to & I have been to quite a few. From the sounds of Opera to the sounds 0f V12's it all just made a great atmosphere. Your team did a fantastic job".

"Just a quick email to say thanks very much for an excellent day on Saturday. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, my wife & daughter particularly like the venue - shops within easy walking distance & not just another field full of cars.
Can't wait for next year's event"!!

"... met some great people, and I must congratulate you, and my fellow Italian car owners on the tremendous array of vehicles assembled on the day. I was truly surprised considering the Auto Italia event on the same day at Brooklands, their loss! The venue is superb, with both breakfast, lunch and a bit of shopping taken in during the day".

Bristol is a ‘happening place’ overflowing with intriguing, traditional and occasionally unconventional things to experience. Its harbour is lined with attractions, museums, boats and ships including Brunel’s ‘SS Great Britain’ and a replica of John Cabot’s ‘Matthew’. In 2006 Bristol will celebrate the bi-centenary of Brunel’s birth. The ‘At-Bristol’ is a unique leisure destination bringing science and nature to life on the historic Harbourside. Voted ‘Family Attraction of the Year’ by the Good Britain Guide, it comprises three new, world-class attractions: Explore, Wildwalk and the IMAX Theatre. But what really makes Bristol special is its energy, the mix of historic and the new, which has resulted in its nomination as a European Centre of Culture. Bristol hits a high note with everyone from clubbers to culture vultures. On a typical day, you can take in cool cafes and gorgeous Georgian terraces, waterfront art centres and monuments to Britain's maritime heritage, as well as green spaces and great shopping in the Broadmead Centre and St Nicholas market. What better place is there to hold the annual Italian Auto Moto Festival?
