Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival 29th April 2006
The Bristol & West Section of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, together with Bristol City Council, will again host the annual Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival (previously called Bristol Italian Car Festival) from 10am. to 4pm. on Saturday 29th April 2006. Following the same successful format as previous years, the event will bring some of Italy’s most desirable and charismatic cars, motorcycles and scooters into the heart of the Old City. The event will be centred on the St Nicholas Street/Corn Street area, surrounded by some great restaurants, pubs, cafes and the Saturday market stalls. The display streets will be closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian friendly zone where the cars and bikes may be safely viewed. This is going to be a show not to be missed!
In 2006 we will hold our fourth Festival and each year has been a much greater success than the previous. By 2005 we had doubled in size with over 170 private entries, including a Pagani Zonda, 70 Alfa Romeos and 40 Ferraris and a fantastic assortment of Lamborghinis, Lancias, Maseratis and Fiats plus stunning Italian motorcycles and scooters. For 2006 we are planning further expansion. The programme will include two ‘Gentlemen (and ladies) Start Your Engines’ sessions and interviews with vehicle owners over the public address system. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the event. The Bristol company Protyre will be exhibiting for the first time and have promised to bring an F1 car simulator – fun for ‘drivers’ of all ages! Parc Fermé Valeting will demonstrate the correct way to clean and polish a car, and there will be a fine array of racing cars from the Bristol Pegasus Motor Club, the Castle Coombe Circuit Racing School and the Abarth Club. The Bristol Mods will be with us again; displaying their colourful, classic Italian scooters and the Moto Guzzi and Moto Rumi Clubs will be joining us for the first time. St Nicholas Street will be a hive of activity, the Seamus O’Donnell’s pub will be providing street entertainments and there will be Italian car and scooter dealers, market stalls and classic cars. Latest News: Entries received so far include: Ferraris and Maseratis, some notable Alfa Romeos including SZs and RZs, a 1954 1900C SS by Touring Series 2 and 1929 6c 1750SS. We are also promised a number of Montreals for the first time. Also entered are some exceptional Fiats, including Dino coupes and Spiders, Graham Nicholson’s fantastic Topolino and a 1936 Lancia Agusta Berlina. Pat Lockyer has promised to bring along his almost unique Stabilimenti Farina bodied Jowet Jupiter and Franco Macri will show his equally rare Zagato bodied 'Zimp.' Motorcycle entries continue at a fast pace with Ducatis, Moto Guzzis and MV Agustas out in force.
