Vehicle detailing - 56kers go make a cup of tea!
Discussion
Ok, wanted to do something for the new car so decided to go to Halfrauds and buy a load and give it a go myself. I bought some Meguiars NXT shampoo, their quikc clay kit which comes with there quick wax, 2 buckets, a meguiars cleaning mitt and a meguiars fibre drying thingy. Washed the car (2 buckets) dried the car, clayed the car, wiped off all the excess, applied the wax and buffed it all up, took about 4 hours and this is what it looked like, quite happy with the results really, i'm sure a pro would get better but for what it cost and a bit of love I'm happy.
Yes if I can, i've got plans that day elsewhere but hoping to get back in time, quite happy with it but there are some swirls in the paintwork and a blemish on the front from bird crap I think, so i think i need a pro to work on some of these bits and make improve it further, want to keep it like this now, welsh, just sent you an email

Well I've not really been on here too much recently having been busy with one thing or another. Anyway, there's quite a few cars to update so be prepared...
I cant remember the exact process used on each, but it usually follows the same format
Rinse
Wash with Megs NXT
Rinse
Sonus Green clay with diluted woolfgang lube
PC'd with Menz 3.02 (Intensive Polished used if required)
Chemical Guys Jetseal109 x2 coats
Victoria Collectors
Wheels are usually treated to diluted wonder wheels if particularly bad. The tyres are finished with Blackfire Tyre Gel.
First up we have this Galant VR4. The owner is selling and wanted it looking tip top. It's a daily driver, but I wasn't quite prepared for what I saw when I arrived. I actually thought it was charcoal grey when I first saw it, but no, it's black.
On Arrival:
A close up of the scratches:
And after:
Right panel polished, left not:

Heres a little update from the last couple of weekends. After the results from the Galant, Steve asked me back to do his Z3M and his daily driver 318.
First up the Z3. After washing the car with Meguires NXT, it was clayed with Sonus Green Clay and a diluted Woolfgang lube. Before cracking on with the polishing though, there were a couple of marks that needed specific attention. The previous owner had "touched up" a few scratches and chips around the car, but not very well and they stood out like a sore thumb in certain places. So I whipped out the 2000 grit wet and dry and flatted off the raised paint. I then polished up the flat paint with Menzerna 3.02 on a SFX 4" spot pad. It wasn't a 100% correction, but made the appearance soo much better. The pictures I have don't really show the finish that well, but needless to say Steve was already very happy and I'd barely started.
The rest of the car was treated to Menz, followed by Jetseal109 sealant and Victoria Collectors.

A big thanks to Huw for his time and effort over the last few weekends The above pictures are impressive without doubt and do give justice to the finishes achieved. I have had the 318 from new and can honestly say that I have never seen the richness and depth of colour in that metalic paint before. BMW should prep all cars 'Huw Style'
If anyone has any doubt about taking the detailing plunge .... drop me a PM to arrange a looksee. You'll be convinced in seconds.
Cheers again Huw

Cheers guys, and Steve init. lol!
Al hows it going? I knew i'd missed some cars off the update - yours being one of them. Will get some pics up when I've got 5.
As far as the roofs are concerned, the ones i've done so far havent really needed much other that a quick "defluff" (note the technical terminology ). By all accounts Renovo is pretty good and is quite highly rated - although it does seem a little fiddley to apply. I've got a few different types of the stuff in my goodie box, but not used any yet.
