anyone fancy a full day at combe this year? £165

I didnt spot your car while i was there but there were a lot of 205's out there wipeing the floor with most cars, i have a new respect for the 205 it has to be said.

As for a full day, im too scared to take my car on but have already been in the free adds looking for a cheap 205 so i could be up for it??!!

there was a lot of people that had spent a lot of money on 205s there on saturday (me included!) so its no suprise they were doing rather well, but when you think about it, all it takes is an Mi16 conversion and a bit of an interior diet to push 200bhp per ton.

Im thinking about the trackday in July, but im not sure because ive got a ring trip in June and then again in August!

200hp per ton is respectable, but my budget will only stretch to the car, some Eibach springs, green/red stuff pads and maybe a free flow exhaust system, and thats if i do the labour myself. That with most of the interior stripped out is about as far as i can stretch.

Still; it should be nippy to say the least!

How much power does the standard 1.9 Gti have?scratchchin

standard power is about 128bhp 118lb ft but bear in mind most 205s are 15 years old and have had a hard life so may be a bit down on power. Dont rule out the 1.6 gti, they were 115bhp and 99lb ft. Also consider 309's. suspension brakes and tyres is the best place to start on any 205 track car. Research the PH French Bred section and www.205gtidrivers.com for everything you ever wanted to know!

yeah feel free. Mikey G and Discostu both know a fair deal about 205/309's too so you're sorted for advice!

Nice one!
Had a quick look for the 309 Gti but seems to be a rare car.

Yes it is, i may be going for one as a track car if and when the Locoblade is gone.
If not i may go for a newer 306 but i still may fall back to a 205 as its all i seem to work on at the moment

Both of them (Ben and Stu) have/had Mi16 engines in them until Stu's went pop..

We are now fitting an 8v Turbo engine into Stu's car

mine used to be a 1.9 8v, got swapped for an Mi16 last september. Thats part of the reason for being quick, the other is simply driver commitment! driving

well i saw debbies 200sx, but nobody else or their cars :-/

I was out on track at 9am, had to stop after 2nd or 3rd lap due to fellow Saabisti's 9K having a con rod through the block and spectacular fire/smoke display

left my car on the so called "SAAB Stand" all day while I wandered about. I think most missed our stand as we were pretty disheveled compared to the other stands of shiny stickered up cars that went no where. I think 90% of our lot were out on track, or at least kept trying until they broke.

Excellent day all round, can't wait until Euro Day in September driving

i did wonder if i'd seen your saab on track with the stealthy black wheels, but i can never remember any of the other saab features to check if it is you! someone on the 205 forum posted up this picture...

Can't see the pic, need to be logged in

Yeah my "classic" 900 is the all black jobbie with rather large front discs and red brembo 4 pots. Number plate starts as F900 which is it's nickname of sorts.
