My car is worth more in peices than it is as a whole car, so if I binned it properly id break it for parts. Would be heartbreaking none the less but still a better option than going down the insurance route with the big excesses etc.
Similar here - when I converted my Monza to track car 5 years ago I thought if I get a couple of years fun out of it I'd be doing well........Gents.
Apologies for being away from your thread for a while, been a little busy of late. The questions have been answered by Ian and the usual regulars! Our event is a great introduction to first timers and a useful proving ground to more experienced drivers. The vibe int he pitlane is very relaxed and if you wanted advice on lines or control or cornering etc, many of the regulars are more than happy to help.
I've recently updated the website to let you all know that we have a mobile rolling road booked for the Saturday, so for a fee (£35 for 2WD and £45 for 4WD) you can get a dyno run of your car. If this proves a popular addition, we will get it for both days in September.
I shall go out and measure some speed bumps today, apologies for not doing this sooner.
The payment side of the site should hopefully go live by the end of this week, or the start of next week, I shall update you when this happens! We have had issues with paypal like you wouldn't believe.
Any other questions, please ask away either on here or by emailing admin at marhamtrackdday dot co dot uk (replacing the at with @ and the dot with full stops of course!).

What are the collective thoughts on using an auto for a trackday? I used my other road car today, first time for a few weeks, and with a 24v V6 reminded myself that it is amusingly brisk. Trouble is, it only really picks up beyond 3500-4000rpm and doing that too often on the road is going to get me into trouble one way or another. So, that lovely big straight at Marham is rather attractive.
I appreciate driving an auto will be a little different, depending on how much manual shifting I do, but will I suffer the oil overheating from a day on the track?

Surpringly it's nearly as much fun and I did find you have much more time to concentrate on braking points as well as lines thro the cornersI appreciate driving an auto will be a little different, depending on how much manual shifting I do, but will I suffer the oil overheating from a day on the track?
I never had a gearbox cooling issue - the oil probably gets hotter when towing than on track

who remembers my Jag XJR saloon ? that was auto. does that pre-date you ?I appreciate driving an auto will be a little different, depending on how much manual shifting I do, but will I suffer the oil overheating from a day on the track?
it's actually very good on track - based on the over-rev controls and the full-throttle shifting.
coming into corners, you can manually down-shift whilst you're still on the straight, knowing that it won't actually select the next lower gear until the revs are right - and it'll do it automatically. You can time it so that this downshift is in the braking zone, when your hands are full with other stuff. In mine, it'll also kick out the tail a little which you can use to your advantage.
Coming out of corners, upselect and just allow kickdown to do the rest.....
Of course, not all auto transmissions are set up the same.
never had fluid temp problems. Generally speaking, the manufacturer will have had cars running in 40 degree temperatures for days flat-out with trailer as a proving exercise.

I remember it - made me seriously think about dropping an XJR engine in the Monzait's actually very good on track - based on the over-rev controls and the full-throttle shifting.

Good to see the guys have finished bladdering deserts and we can get up to our old BAD WAYS again
If Gary is bringing the Frog it would be bad form not to bring the Midget wouldn't it?
Hope to see you guys on track come April.
re: the speed ramps, Gary isn't the only one to get "low car touching" across them. Even after fitting "taller" springs a couple of years ago I still get a gentle scrape but I haven't seen anyone lose a splitter

Hello mate.
Apologies for the delay, been busy. There are two speed bumps at the main gate to negotiate. They are of standard size and height. There will be people at the gate to assist you if needed, but take it easy and cross them diagonally and you should be fine. I can't post sizes/dimensions/photos etc for obvious reasons. If you use your car on the road, you'll have encountered this kind of speed bump before and as the guys have said, we've had a few cars that have been gived the lows (or left the factory with them!) and still made it on fine!
