Registered!

Despite owning a GT3 for over a year this is going to be my first trackdayyikes

Quick question regarding saftey equipment for those in the know! Whats the line with helmets? Any specific saftey standard that they must conform to? Same again with fire extinguishers, can I just borrow a mini one from work or is there something I should be looking for specificaly?

Nope just a good fit - no std is applied - it's your head at then end of the day - they might not appreciate an ex WWII tin helmet biggrin

I use a light weight alloy dry powder one but any car one will do - halfrauds or other moor factors sometimes have them on offer - the important thing is that it is well secured and easily accessible - mine is cable tied to the roll cage just beside the drivers seat. The other think is to make sure if you already have one that the pressure is still in the green and not in the red.

Really no reason other than than I'm generally a busy person at the weekends and I dont want to take time off midweek to do a track day!

Helmet thing is intersting, I had assumed there would be a standard they had to comply to (like bike helmets) I've got a few available to me but none are particularly appropriatescratchchin

For a fire extinguisher mount, Brey Krause do one for the 997. Porsche Shop are the UK importers

I tried to buy the Brey Krause subaru mount but as PorscheShop only do Porsches they couldn't get me one. Ended up making my own one out of bits an bobs smile

If I recall, Marham is technically a driving day, certainly not a race day - hemets compulsory but no formal standard. I have an AGV bike helmet (from my days when I was in the Dax with no roof) which has never been questioned on any track day I've been to.

Might be worth a question on their website... or maybe someone will answer formally here

Cheers
Paul

Ha. He wishes! We had to set up a new account in his name as the previous one had serious issues. Paypal are a pain the the proverbial! Any feedback -ve or +ve you have on the registration/payment process is greatly appriciated! I am by no means a web designer, this is my first attempt at this sort of thing.

I'll be taking it offline now for about 10 minutes to make a couple of changes, thanks for your feedback Ian!

There is not a standard or benchmark that helmets must comply to. We just insist that everyone driving or travelling as a passenger on track must wear one. It's your head that we are trying to protect should you roll, what helmet you chose to protect it with is up to you.

Likewise, a fire extinguisher is mandatory in all cars. Halfords do a couple at farily good prices. It must be secured though in the car though, not bouncing around in the footwell, because in the event of a roll, that will be the first thing that tests the strength of the 1940's tank commander helmet you shouldn't have chosen to wear!

Safety is key to us, but so is common sense.

This 1kg Dry Powder comes with a suitable bracket for £14.

Halfwits do a similar one with a gauge for £30.

Hello

All registed and booked up for the Sunday.

This will be my first track day / race event so really looking forward to it.

I'm pleased to read that's quite relaxed and a good start for beginners like myself.

I'll be taking my RS Clio 182.

Look forward to seeing others their on the day.

How much tread do people find themselves using from a days use - I had hoped my Hankook RS-2's would last the day and possibly fit some new tyres before the journey home.

I usually do the full weekend and never needed new tyres - all depends on if you really are abusing them biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Yay, now registered and paid. As a bonus I found I had 51p in my Paypal account, so the day isn't going to cost quite as much as I'd thought...

I was just reading a thread elsewhere about the 30-130 weekend at Marham later this month. It mentioned security clearance being required, and the organisers were requesting passport numbers and suchlike. Is any additional information like this required, or will the information given on the payment page suffice?

Thanks

Alex
