Contemplating doing the Saturday, but I know (in person) literally no-one from PH, and none of my mates are interested / driving anything suitable / not too tight to drive 30 miles / not skint

Unsure what to bring though - my Octavia VRS (1.8t) or the wife's Clio 172. Clio is away for belts and dephaser next month, so will be fully fit, whereas the VRS is technically needed as the 'family' car for the kids, so I will be in much more trouble if I break it.
All are welcome mate, there's usually a few 172/182's kicking about so you'll soon meet other like minded folk. The vibe in the paddock is usually very friendly in general, people just talk to one another, there is obviously a very common interest between everyone there.

As for the car, no brainer, 172 every time, less likely to be beheaded if it fails...

I'll be floating about mate, I'd be more than happy for you to demonstrate how well the clio corners to me in the passengers seat!

Many thanks, PM sent via RR regarding collection.

If the track is going to be quiet as it seems I could be doing a lot of miles! Now tyres aren't going to be my limitation, with a thirsty V6 and auto 'box I'd better make sure I have some spare fuel with me...

From the organisers

Dear all,

Just a quick reminder to say that the Track Weekend planned for the 18th/19th Aug is still going ahead and still has plenty of places left.

This will be the only event of this type this year but we hope to go back to two events per year in 2013.

For this event we’re planning on an open pit lane all day both days. At lunch we’ll be turning the track round so you get two tracks for the price of one! As for the price, we have discounted it to a very low £50 for car and first driver.

We have all the usual facilities including a tyre fitter and rolling road along with a mobile bodywork tech who can discuss any detailing questions you may have.

I hope you and your group can come but could I please ask that you spread the word as far as you can so that we can get the most money raised for charity.

Please dot the website details in as many places as you can. This will help me out massively. – www.marhamtrackday.co.uk

Thank you

George

We're looking at about 45 cars per day at the moment. Numbers are lower than we'd hope, but we expect them to creep up after pay day at the end of the month. Which is understandable because of the previous cancellations. Hopefully this event will serve to give people confidence that we are back up an running. The next event won't be until spring next year.

Got the thumbs up from the wife now, so will be booking after payday. Just got to decide whether to replace the brakes all round on the Clio 172 now or after the day. Bit worried in case of brake fade on the day with current setup, or cooking and killing £200+ worth of discs and pads in a day.

Broken biccy - who says you have to abuse your car? just come along and have fun tongue out And treat your car with a little respect.
I will be there in my bog standard navy blue TVR Chimaera, being overtaken by all and sundry as usual, and you know what? I don't care!
I will concentrate on getting my lines right and enjoying my car at speed without the danger of fen ditches for a change.
I will leave the honour of fastest on track to the £90,000 Porsche GT3s and £150,000 Ferraris like last time and just see if I can manage not to be overtaken by ALL the hairdresser cars.
See you there - I shall look out for you in the Clio, though perhaps you might find me easier to spot.

That's the beauty about Marham, and especially with the relatively low numbers this time. There's enough space to drive the way you want to. For some its the huge straight and the ability to go rather quicker than is safe/legal on the road, for others the straight is used as a gentle cruise linking some great corners.

Driving a fairly heavy car with OE pads and discs I didn't have a problem with brakes in about 150 miles on track, in fact they were still in place when I did another trackday after a year's use on the road.

I have finally got my car I would like to do this track day in. Problem is I think the car will be too loud, it also has a external waste gate which is venting to the atmosphere....

Does anyone know somewhere in Norwich or Norfolk I can get the car tested?

Other cars in shot make good comparison Black Monza just scrapes in on the Snetterton Evening sessions with 101.8 db

When I rang Snetterton track to check how loud my TVR might be, they said I could pop by any time during the working week to have it tested for free. Might be better to phone first.....
