Something tells me that this won't make the event. I may have to use my MGB if I can't buy a new one soon

Ouch!!

Well if you are going to crash you have to do it properly. I take it you didn't do any damage to yourself?

Damn! Just caught up with this thread.
Sorry to see that! Glad you were largely OK though.

How about a lovely Brabus edition 101 to replace it? wink

I'm actually looking for an RCR to replace it if it's not repairable. For this event I think my MGB GT will do but it's due for work so it's hardly a concourse winner

I could probably sign up for a leader from stow to alde... Depending on what it involves?!? Won't necessarily be a fast leader though as I think I'll have my girlfriend with me! (She likes fish & chips, not speed!)

This is going to make me sound like a wimp but I've never been on a PH meet before so wouldn't mind giving it a go - what is the pace like though - I can keep the S2K on the boil without any issue, but the girlfriend doesn't like enthusiastic driving confused

I know she won't get on the back of my bike as well biggrin

That's great, leading a group is fairly easy. I have full printed instructions that your girlfriend can read out and /or I have sat nav routes for the following models:

For TomTom:
- All Rider models.
- All GO models in the 500, 700 and 900 series.

For Garmin:
- All Zumo models.
- These Nuvi models: 750, 760, 755, 765, 770, 860, 865, 775, 510, 550, 1490, 2460, 3790, 259, 3490

The job of the group leader is really to make sure everybody is still following you. Keep an eye on your mirror, slow down when necessary and don't lose anyone. smile

Tommy

There is some "enthusiastic" driving but you drive at your pace and what you feel comfortable with. The guy in front maybe driving faster than you would like but don't feel any pressure to keep up with him/her. I ask everybody to keep an eye on their mirrors and slow down when necessary or stop if they can't see anyone behind them.

Generally we put the faster cars at the front and the slower ones at the back. It is a bit like an elastic band to watch but it all stays together biggrin

You'll be fine, routes are given out so there is no need to keep up with everyone else if you don't feel comfortable.

The tail end of the group usually goes at quite a leisurely pace, so just slot in at the back when we leave the start point and see how you get on.

Thanks guys - I've driven in groups before both in cars and on bikes (don't ride in large groups of bikes anymore as it can get a bit mental) and keeping pace (or trying to!) is great fun, it's just the girlfriend detects any slip and she goes off on one...

I'll add myself to the list from Cambs
