I specifically went in Darren's group as I like the spirited part between villages. I knew it would be a fast group and it made the trip for me.
same The run before last I kept up with everyone in a 1.5 diesal Clio!!!!
Once again thank you everyone for a fab day.
Now off to polish my OAP bus pass!!!!

Hi David. Thank you for your feedback
I would tend to agree with BC and Mark, my personal thoughts below
While, as the single leader, I was OK with the Thetford group, we have found in past that larger groups can mean an overall less enjoyable experience for attendees.
I do my usual "go slow" in in built up areas, then drive a little more "spirited" in NSL areas.
Some members don't wish to travel as quickly, while I know others can get a little worried when they lose sight of the person in front. I understand this, so try to keep us together as much as possible.
I have experienced the "slow-fast-slow-fast" method can also cause a bit of a traffic jam for PHers.
Out front, I've accelerated away on a bit of road I know to be enjoyable. Varying traffic flow speed can mean those further back will be past the "fun" bit before traffic frees up enough for safe quicker driving.
When the group numbers grow, these negatives can be exaggerated.
We have found smaller groups makes it easier and more relaxed for all. We generally stay together and the overall pace is as quick as everyone wants it to be.
For larger Runs, like the Fish'n'Chip Run, it also means that people can opt in to a slower or faster group, depending on their preference
I hope this helps explain why we opted for smaller groups, and we can look at how we go about explaining groups and briefing everyone to ensure an enjoyable, relaxed day for all

I get your point. I guess I just get off on the gang mentality and love the attention it gets. Well you asked lol I would tend to agree with BC and Mark, my personal thoughts below

I do alotbof runs with scd where we have maybe 20 supercars and you should see the look on people's faces when we "gently" pass through

I, and we, welcome and appreciate the feedback and thank you for it, buddy
In this particular instance, we have tried and tested the larger group method and simply found smaller has proven more enjoyable and easier for all
I get what you mean about the spectacle for a convoy of lovely machinery.
Admittedly not quite to the incredible SCD levels, but fantastic mix all the same
Hopefully see you and that mental Merc again before too long *cough* Breakfast Run *cough*

Yeah, this Darren. Can't share either. It's not an issue but some may wish to tag themselves or share on their timeline.
Phew! I'm glad to hear Facebook hasn't gone silly and you can view my photos
It's primarily for people just to see them. If you see a photo you like, then you can Right Click and Save it
I use Facebook as I have found it's easier that other hosting sites.
I upload to my personal account as my own unprofessional snaps aren't officially PHEA.
I (along with some appreciated helpers) organise things, but I feel if I then start posting albums on the PHEA FB page it could be seen too much as a "one man band", so I like a little separation there.
If things come across too cliquey it could prove off putting, so would rather individuals post to wherever they wish and link it in
We all still get to see each other's photos

Also I spoke to the guy at Tesco and he has asked that we get permission form the store manager next year, so in case he says no, does anyone know of an alternative site we coud park up in?
a few suggestions ....Train Station Car Park .... near empty on Sundays but navigating groups of 15 cars through the numerous traffic lights (Barnards Junction) or over the railway gates when leaving to start the run may throw up a few issues
Needham Market Lake - Plenty of room to park and we could enjoy a new addition to the route from Needham to Stowmarket via the creetings to then pick up the original route at top of the Tesco Estate (Creeting Road)
Ernest Nunn Road Industrial Estate (opposite Muntons, bottom of Tesco Hill)
Stowmarket Football Club carpark - although this would mean a slow parade through Stowmarket to start the original route
I'm embarrassed and concerned to hear of these letters, as I've not previously heard of members receiving anything.
I did hear of a couple of instances involving disgruntled members of the public, but I am concerned that people have received something. Aside from a single moving, on-coming police car, I didn't noticed any police during the day.
If you guys would be so kind as to perhaps please send me some details, I would be most grateful - Of course PM me if you don't fancy mentioning it on here.
Many thanks,
Darren

It was a polite warning letter sent to one of my buds on the run. They singled him out of the group for some reason. We have no idea why as he was in the middle of Darren's convoy and driving in a safe manner throughout the day, especially in built up areas. In fact I believe we were doing well under the limit going through towns.
I think a member of the public had a moan and he was the unlucky one they noted the numberplate of. He isnt worried about it though, as I say it was a warning letter, no faults or laws broken at all and no further action will be taken.
Darren, might be able to get a scan of it. Will let you know later in the week (hes off on hols atm).
Cheers

Phew! It doesn't sound anything too official, nor license-endangering.
In the built up areas, that is precisely why I slow right down to under the limits. By coincidence, the villages or towns are often pleasant to look at and everyone has a good chance to bunch up again
I would be mortified to hear someone had been singled out for any kind of investigation during a Run.
The woman taking numbers was one of the instances I heard. Simple argument there.....if she was able to stand there, reading and noting the numbers of many passing cars, we clearly weren't breaking any laws (unless she has super-human speed or recall abilities)!
It appears people hear engines and exhaust and instantly assume the worst.....
Only if your friend doesn't mind, I would appreciated seeing a copy please

Did anyone else receive a friendly letter from the plod after the event?
YesIt wasn't friendly and I have replied
It related to the approach to Tescos on the Cedars Estate - apparently it is alleged that I gave a member of the public concerns for his own safety.....
Yeah right - we were nose to tail in traffic and if I hit 15 mph I reckon I was doing well....
My details have been placed on file
Foxtrot Oscar Letter Sent in response
Couple of things really stuck out in the letter that set my spiddy sense tingling
