Yeah - Lets just say in getting rid of the damage on the Monza after I rolled it I may have gone a bit far

Still it could be entered as it is as it runs and drives!!!

OK gents, I've updated the website and set up all the payment process, so it should be ready to go, I'm just waiting for confirmation about a couple of things from MG Mark prior to it going live.

Once it's up and running, I'll let you know.

The website (just incase you forgot!) can be found at www.marhamtrackday.co.uk.

Any questions, please ask on this thread or via the contact us page on the website.

Regards

Rob

Going from previous years, the cost will most likely be £70 per car per day, or £120 for both days. Extra drivers / passengers / pit crew are £10 per head.

All for as much track time as your fuel bill / tyres allow so it's a cheap day! Will confirm this ASAP.

The costs will be agreed by the committee very soon. Please be patient with us.
Rest assured we'll keep them as low as possible whilst, at the same time, generating a healthy amount for the charities this event was set up to support.

Please spread the word far and wide smile

Yes, there are noise restrictions bigadz, I can't remember the figures but they aren't strict though, if your car has a silencer, you'll probably be fine mate.....

email recieved today - not to me said:
With kind permission from the Stn Cdr, the RAF Marham Track Day Committee are pleased to announce a charity driving experience weekend on the airfield in aid of RAFBF & Station Charities.

Key Information:

Cost - £70 per car per day or £120 per car for the weekend. Cost per passenger £10 per day.

Booking and payment - PayPal via Marham Track Day website http://www.marhamtrackday.co.uk

Personal Info - Full Name, Address, Drivers Licence/Passport Number, Car Registration and Colour.

Arrival/Finish Times - Track opens 0800hrs and closes at 1700hrs with a 1 hour lunch break at 1200hrs-1300hrs.

Safety Equipment - Helmet and personal Fire Extinguisher - mounted in the car not in the boot. Car has to be roadworthy for safety reasons but not necessarily road legal. Track Day insurance at owners discretion as you're not covered by the event's insurance.

Strictly NO spectators allowed.

For further information please check out our website http://www.marhamtrackday.co.uk

This event attracts a whole host of different driving abilities and cars and offers a great platform to test your ability as a driver but also push your car to the limit in a safe and controlled environment.

If you have a passion for cars but don't own a track car why not volunteer to assist with marshalling and general running of the weekend? No experience required as full training will be given prior to the event. Plus you might just get the odd passenger ride!
Email details removed

Looks pretty firmed up to me!!

One small point - pit crew/helpers - when did you start to charge for those - appreciate that I missed the last two events held but it was always drivers and passengers that were chargeable in the past - helpers/support were never charged to my knowledge.

Sorry maybe a misprint on my part!

A car with driver and 3 passengers would be £100 for the day. (£70 and £10 per extra person) what i was getting at is that there's no spectator price as due to insurance stipulations, we can't allow them. Does this make more sense? Sorry for any confusion BC!

Regards, Foz.

Not talking about spectators - talking about people who can help unload cars off trailers and also wheel changes etc (which Marham's aggressive surface normally results in several tyre changes over the day.

Now I know many people who have attended Marham before have had helpers sometimes partners in support cars where the track car is not trailered (wheels and tyres and fuel needs to be got to the event somehow) and those helpers have no wish to go out in the cars at all (I'm certainly one of those people) - these have never been chargeable and were never regarded as spectators.

I'm just seeking a clarification of this.

If the rules have changed and it's now Policy that anyone not a driver or a passenger is a "spectator" and as a result cannot attend then it would be very difficult for me to attend (and I can think of a few others in this camp).

If the helper has to be a chargeable paid entrant even if they aren't going to drive or passenger then that's a whole different situation too.

Confusions of language.....

Driving a car on the track? - there is a charge, which is £X for the car including the first driver and £Y for each additional driver.

Not driving a car on the track? - there is no charge for helpers.

Hey, I just want to say hello as I'm part of the track day team at Marham and add a few more points about the weekend.

- Noise: The limit for the track day is 105db at 45deg and 50cm at 2/3 revs (if you do exceed this we will have a chat about it on the day and see how to resolve the issue). There is no drive by limit.

I know its has been asked before why we have a limit as a Tornado in full reheat can exceed 145db but you must remember that RAF Marham has many personnel and their family living on station with the weekend often the only time there is no noise (we all like a little peace and quiet).

- Safety: All drivers and passengers must have helmets on and straps fastened, either full face or open, only the front seats (max 2) can be occupied on track. A fire extinguisher must be carried in the vehicle and must be secure but to hand (in the glovebox etc is fine)

- Tow hooks: As with any other track days we ask you fit your tow hooks/eyes before you go out on track. RAF Marham is a fully operational station and the runway/ Taxiways are very important to us. If there is an incident (breakdown/fire) that is likely to damage the surfaced WE WILL!! Tow you onto the grass or a safer surface by any means.

- FOD!!: This is a huge issue at RAF Marham. A Tornado engine will swallow up over 60m3 of air a second and can lift and ingest items from the surfaces. To remove and strip an engine costs in excess of £250,000 and a replacement in excess of £1m. DO NOT drop litter, and report anything missing straight away to us to it can be found.

any questions please ask

Look forward to see you all there smile

Maybe now is the time to add that if you're doing this for the very first time, there are a few of us who offer informal tuition. We are all very experienced drivers and tutors and can offer anything from a few passenger laps to see where the best "lines" are, through to a "start from scratch" sort of thing.

I shall be in the paddock with a big blue Holden V8 - just come and say hello and we'll sort you out from there.

We are trying to get a few things to make the weekend a better experience too, such as a mobile tyre fitter etc should they be needed.

For anyone not a seasoned track day goer, to alleviate any concerns, we carry out a mandatory drivers safety/info brief, and a Q&A opportunity followed by a sighting lap with the safety car to familiarise drivers with the route.

It's an amazing weekend, relatively cheap as chips and all for charity! Plus we have a hog roast, ice cream van and donut van!

I think we will give you a mention during the driver brief, so the inexperienced know who to look for smile and after many years of seeing the blue beast im yet to go for a lap or two in it so that will have to change wink
